I heard that Clipper was spinny enough to act like inverted, Radical more so. However the best pips were TSP-Spinpips, if they've made a replacement for them get those instead.

802-40 is the spinniest short pips I've ever used. I have a dawei pip that's right up there or maybe more, but I'm out of stock for a week or two.

I've tried several in the last year and the one I went with was Juic Masterspin and I liked it a lot. I could play a controled topspin game with it and with Neubauer Long Pips on my BH, I went from 982 a year ago to over 1700...I just recently switched to smooth rubber on my forehand...Joola Energy Green, because my forehand had gotten good enough to handle a bit more speed and spin but I would definately recommend the Masterspin for a short pip forehand...I liked it better than Neubauer Leopard and Pistol and 802...also tried a couple others as well... |

Anyone tried butterfly flarestorm or raystorm which are supposedly high tension? Flarestorm seems like a pretty sweet rubber to me. Anyways, I have tried 802-40 and I thought that those pips were very good. I have also tried TSP spin-pips which are also pretty sweet. However I believe that I heard somewhere that the spin pips have the same topsheet as the 802-40. I also tried yasaka pb-1 and they were good in terms of speed and spin but not as good as 802-40. Go to Speedy`s review site (I don`t know the link but you can probably find it) He is one of the short pip experts and his site reviews a ton of short pips. Anyways, any comments on the flarestorm? |

Flarestorm best for power with hard sponge get max.
If you are ph you might try a thinner one as max can be hard to block with good feeling |

I prefer a soft (like 35 degrees) thinner (like 1.8) sponge for my pips with a hard blade. Makes them easier to control and spinnier but still fast.
Joola Tango Ultra is the easiest pip I've tried for looping with and has a soft tensor sponge. Topsheet is similar to 802-40. The Dawei 388-B short pip has a grippier topsheet than 802-40 and a very soft sponge. Raystorm is softer than Flarestorm and also has a very grippy topsheet. Clippa and Radical are very grippy as well and Clippa has the softer sponge. Both are higher throw than the above pips, so better on a low-throw blade. -- Andrew |
