Is it good? Or is there any other good choices?

I've been using this machine for the past year and it has helped me in many ways: technique, consistency, speeed, stamina, etc. I'm an intermidiate player and I feel like I still have a long way to go before I outgrow this machine. However, I definitely would not get a lesser machine w/out the recycline net. There obviously are superior robots out there, but this is a great practice partner for the price.

A vase?

"An open container, as of glass or porcelain, used for holding flowers or for ornamentation."

I've been using the 2040 for about 2 months. So far it seems like a great bargain to me. You might want to look into finding a used one. Newgy sometimes sells refurbished, I've heard.

Here is a great resource for information about robots. But it's very long. http://forums.about.com/n/pfx/forum.aspx?tsn=1&nav=messages&webtag=ab-tabletennis&tid=21386

The problem with these Newgy robots (though I have no idea whether other brand robots have this too) is that speed and spin are tied together. The speed dial controls speed and spin. So you can't have a slow ball with high spin, or a fast ball with little spin. It's low speed/spin or high speed/spin.

And you can't make no-spin balls.

Other than that it's decent. I have a Newgy Robo-Pong 1040. Pretty good.

I'm not sure what you mean by "vase" either, pzmosquito. Could you explain? I would like to confirm and agree with pimpmyracket's observations. As I said, there are better robots out there. But expect to pay a lot more coin. I believe a lot can be learned from the 2040 even with its limitations.

I say "vase" means something is a decoration, looking good, but not practical. sorry didn't explain enough.

so the speed and spin functions are not fexable...... too bad....

I sometimes get ball jamming issues . Two of the reason I know is new balls and bad balls and also If any other object accidently goes with the ball into vase.

Washing the balls solves the problem of the new , dirty balls . Is there a easy remedy when it occurs without opening the vase.

Apart from that it is pretty good .

Dead spin balls are a concern but I dont have this concern ,as I train also with returnboard where you can play with nospin balls .

Also Slow heavy topspin /backspin is not possible . Another feature I hoped (idealistic) to have random pattern of ball throws ,where you dont know what is coming and where . This will allow you to change the racket angle based on the spin type. I think this is a tough task . There is one robot out there which can do heavy spin or dead spin , but it is around 1000 + euro.

Apparently every TT matic Robot has seperate Speed Spin now. They are kind of expensive 1375 for the 500b in England. But you dont have to get that one.

I think the 2040 is the best robot for the price. It has a ball recycle net, unlike the 540 and 1040 models which don't and require a separate net.

It is much more trouble free and durable than the Buttefly robot and a user can fix it. On the down side you can't separate speed from spin, but you can mimic no spin or heavy spin slow balls using multi-ball if that's important.
