Just curious, what are some famous blades that come with the anatomic grip? I know there's the Maze, but looking around for others? I tried this grip at club today and it feels much much better than ST or FL for me! thanks

Timo Boll Spirit comes in an AN handle. So do most of the newer Timo Boll models.
Quite a few Buttefly blades come with AN which i also prefer compared to FL or ST. |

I love my Yasaka G Extra AN. AN handles are more previlent on Euro type blades. Hard to find them with the Chinese brands I'm finding.

I have never tried a AN blade. Is it common among offensive players?

Some like it, some don't... The percentage of users of AN is way much less than the other two (ST & FL)...

Many suppliers also don't keep stock for AN blades because it is not as popular as FL or ST.
Once you feel an AN handle and like it, you never go back to a FL or ST handle. AN handles feel more complete. |

I've tried a few blades with anatomical handles, due to other players using them locally.
The Andro Carbon Light All+, Tibhar Champ, Tibhar IV-S, Donic Persson Powerspeed, Donic Persson Power Allround, Donic Applegren Allplay, Donic Waldner Offensive 40, Stiga Offensive Oversize and Stiga Allround Wood, were the blades I tried. I found the Tibhar and Andro handles the most comfortable. I do have a 90 gram Michael Maze with an anatomical handle, but it gets less playing time than my 88 gram straight handle Michael Maze; which I prefer and get better results with. |

Probably more than 1/3 of the European/Japanese blades out there come in AN, so we are definitely looking at more than 100 blades... Are you guys going to list all of them here?! :-)
There are a few people in this forum that prefer anatomic to anything else, including tiehwen and Jussi. They are probably the best to describe the differences between brands as well... :) |

yeah..
@dimitris, u got it right there. I'm a big fan of Bty's n Stiga's An. handles. esp. Bty's as I believe they really have done their homework to make the most comfy An. handles out there n too bad not too many ppl here prefer that. Most ppl just probably wanna follow the crowd cuz. they thought so n so top players use ST n FL so they wanna do that too. Just my opinion.
Had written u a long PM re: my home-made blades but I lost it days ago b4 i got the chance to send it 2 u....Sorry as there was someth'n i really wanna tell u..it's about that POCs...

I've used anatomical handles on Stiga and Donic blades and liked their feel.
On Monday night I got to play with a friends Donic Persson Power Allround with Rapid Soft and Coppa, for 2 1/2 hours. It was a set up that worked well and the handle was so comfortable, I had no problems focussing on my game. |

Well, I actually thought of shaving the blade around and reducing its dimensions from the current Korbel size (158mm x 152mm) to the Darker size (155mm x 150mm), which is probably going to remove 10gr or so, although when I finish I am afraid it will look like Ulmo's shark blade! :-) The finishing now is too nice and I am afraid of destroying it, but no fight, no glory! :) Drilling the handle, which is relatively small, would probably make the blade too head heavy, so I was not considering it as an option... Other ideas? PS: Sorry for hijacking this thread.... just a couple of posts... |

@Dimitris. Clear ur PM box. Just finished typing a whole novel w/o saving a copy 4 myself n sent it w/o knowing ur inbox is full n i lost my "Novel" the 2nd time....
In short there r many ways to make ur blade lighter.
Sorry to hijack this thread or steer it to diff. direction ppl. It won't happen again.
In short x2, IMHO only Bty n Stiga make the nicest Anatomic handles period. The others like Xiom, Andro, Donic n others r either too bulging @ the mid-secn. or too chubby or too slim n therefore still not quite there yet.....

@tiehwen You can always send me email at mytabletennis [at] zizazoo <dot> com... By the way, I have a butterfly x5 anatomic and the handle I find too squarish. The yasaka sweden classic I have has a great anatomic handle, as well as the stiga off classic I used to have, although did not play with it, only held it! :-) A donic anatomic one I found not that comfortable, too bulgy as you mentioned... |
