i think european players plays too many competitions during the season (ECL,supercup,euro/asia,tournament of champions, bundesliga, top 12...etc) and it's difficult for them to be ready for the important tournament...

Boll withdrew - he's now officially injured (pulled a muscle in his thigh warming up for the DTTL match on Sunday). Also doubtful for Kuwait.

Yeah, I see their names in the draw and they definitely the favorites.  Wang Hao, Wang Liqin and Ma Lin are playing as well.  Since Boll, Maze and Samsonov are not going to play, I'm afraid that the Chinese are too strong unless Joo have some magics to beat them.

I'm afraid the final will be between Ma Long and Xu Xin.

I hope that some non-Chinese players will reach semi-finals instead of all Chinese semi-finals.

Except Joo, there's no one who can hurt the chinese players, maybe Kenta?
Can Ovtcharov beat Xu Xin? or Zhang Jike?

If Ovtcharov can play like Boll then yes, he might have a chance, IMO.

Kenta is another one could make some big news but I'm afraid he's not improving much.

I'm pretty disappointed of the fact that Boll keeps getting injured (Maze too), maybe their strokes require more physical movement than the Chinese.  I think the Chinese train more than the Europeans but I guess they probably are taken care of better than the Europeans?  Or maybe the Europeans play more in European leagues than the Chinese in the Chinese leagues?  And the Chinese always reserves their players to play in bigger tournament such as this and the World, Olympic, etc.?

A part of me wants to see the all Chinese semi-finals because it will show case their skills and competition level, but another part of me wants to have non-Chinese semi-finals so that we still have hopes for this sport.

i always prefer a chinese final 4.  too bad they have to play each other on 2nd round if im reading the chart correctly.

the doubles is going to be sooooo sad for the other countries.  WLQ paired with Xu Xin and Ma Long paired with Zhang Jike. LOL  absolute faceroll

at least they level the playing field for their own compatriots.  but i must say, WLQ might be a better doubles partner though.
