Tahl is a TT Beast
we poutine eating TT fans have our Stephanie Chan (BC) and coach John MacPherson (NS) to follow ...they will have much stiffer competition though GO CANADA Edited by The Canadian Bacon - 09/07/2016 at 5:06pm |

I pretty much gave up on the whole Paralympics in Rio. I mean it's a good thing for athletes and all that, but the doping scandal and banning of the entire Russian team simply because IPC felt like it (in the absence of even shadow of any court-level proof) left me extremely disgusted with that scene.
When the only "reason" is 35 probes (it turned out later than some of them were not even for paralympic athletes) which were "likely" (!!) tampered with in 4 (!) years with many dozens of (or hundreds?) of paralympic events, it kinda begs the question whether the difference between IOC and IPC is simply that Russia didn't have anyone at the highest level of IPC to vote "no", and then naturally it hints at possible motivations behind those who voted "yes" using some flimsy semi-secret document as an excuse. And don't tell me about CAS - CAS simply confirmed that IPC was within their rights to do that, which is formally true. CAS doesn't investigate or rule on the degree of strength of evidence; they are not really a court in the full meaning of that word. Anyways, watching handicapped athletes play TT is always an inspiration, but I guess I will be sticking with Youtube highlights reels and watching them after the events. |

No knowledge about Paralympics at all.
However, it doesn't look like that it is that hard to claim "Disabled".

If you're using Firefox, there is an extension (click on tools) search for "Hide my IP", you can select a Canadian city and should be able to see that player...i have a full VPN
It's funny ITTF has a full page for it but nothing showing other than a basic relooped promo TV guide from USTTA http://www.teamusa.org/USA-Table-Tennis/Events/2016/September/07/Rio-2016-Paralympic-Games Edited by The Canadian Bacon - 09/08/2016 at 3:45pm |

This Wikki explains the classes...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Para_table_tennis My first ever para viewing event was the Pan Ams 2015, i learnt a lot and all very interesting...there are quite a few 'personalities', Thal being one of them. It was in my ignorant and arrogant mind VERY BORING till i attended a training camp, i learnt a lot about technique and tactics and now it's very interesting watching with the new found knowledge. The best part are the athletes themselves full of energy and some are characters that give me a hearty laugh occasionally because now i fully understand. These guys and gals are athletes there is no denying that...just immerse yourself in the environment and you'll understand. |

If I read correctly, Tahl Leibovitz will play Ma Lin tomorrow 9am Rio time (8am EST). What a tough first match. Even though he's not the same player as the 2008 (able body) Beijing gold medalist, probably 2600 minimum.

Stephanie Chan finished in a respectable 4th considering the last four were WR 1,3&7, Stephanie will have a ranking change come next ranking reviews.

Any way to see recorded matches? I'm never around when the matches are streaming live and when I click on the video link at other times (like right now) I get a commercial and then nothing (it never loads).

Tahl lost but then won two matches and got into QFs, where he lost to eventual champion, Laurens Devos from Belgium. Laurens is hemiplegic (right side of his body is significantly weaker, with loss of mobility there), and he is only 16 years old. |
