I've not used XIOM Maximus, but a friend mentioned it is very close to BY Korbel.

Ask Graeme. He uses Maximus for over a year. He prefers Maximus over the Control All+ blade. He's supposed to post his review of Maximus vs Amadeus shortly.

I also think he got rid of the Stradavarius because he liked the Maximus so well.  Or at least he tried to sell.

I hit with XIOM Michelangelo yesterday. I really love those offensive blades, but I'm forced to use DEF+ blades.

Varghese, perhaps you should start a thread with reviews of the xiom blades you tried... I'll be interested to read it.

Feels like a korbel? I think you will like it just fine!

I'll try when I get back from the US Open. I love to write reviews but too many other things to do these days.

Based on review chart over at korean website: Maximus is a bit harder, stiffer, with sharper feel and slightly slower than Korbel.

GraemeW, where are you?

I've been busy!!

I posted a short comparison of all the Xiom blades I have tried, including the Maximus, in the Amadeus review thread.

http://mytabletennis.net/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=18744

I also posted some comments on the Maximus over at DTTW...

The XIOM Maximus is a do-it-all 5 ply all-wood OFF blade - think Korbel, but better balanced and perhaps a touch quicker/stiffer. Unless you are experimenting at the outer edges of 'blade'dom (Schlager Carbon etc., 1 ply Hinoki's, super-light balsa etc.) then you should be able to adjust to and play with most blades reasonably quickly... it's getting to the next, more intuitive level that takes time (see Wiggy's recent comments about his blade). The Maximus should be thought of as a 'classic' OFF blade alongside the likes of Korbel, OC, Samsonov Alpha, etc.

Got some serious training (incl. multiball) coming up this weekend so will try to post some further thoughts then... however I think the Amadeus is here to stay for me.

Hehehe... Nice to hear from you Graeme...
Looks like I won't try the Maximus after all... Wink

I'll be waiting to hear more after your training sessions... Smile

i had maximus ...and i didn't like it at all, it had a really weird feeling that i never felt with any other racket.

anyway i sold it to chronos, i think he would be happy to say what he thought of it!
