Review on Yasaka Super Speed glue

Before I get on to describing the glue I would like to highlight something interesting.  When I contacted my supplier to get the glue and some other things, I had been originaly interested in the 1000mL can of glue.  However when I called him I learned that they had sold out of the 1000mL and would not be getting anymore in, EVER.  When I asked about this they said that apparently the glue manufacturers are taking the ITTF seriously this time.  He said that due to this they would not be stocking anymore 1000mL cans of ANY glue because the manufacturers are cutting production back significantly.  I was wondering if anyone else has come across this, speed glue or not?

Ok, now onto the Super Speed

The first thing you notice when you get it out is how heavy it is, mind you this is the 250mL can.  My brother uses Stiga Carbon and it's smallest size is 400mL.  When we compared the two, we expected the 400 to be heavier due to its size but we were wrong!  The 250 of Super Speed was SIGNIFICANTLY heavier!  After we had done all the "scientific" testing, it was on to the good stuff.  When I got to my club that night I went back to the gluing area like normal but when I opened the can a large amount of vapors came out and the whole hallway smelled like finger nail polish remover.  After a brief session of CPR I was back to gluing.  I found that it is fairly thin glue, probably a bit thicker than Energy but far from Fair Chack's thickness.  As I spread it onto the rubber I found I had used to much even though I had waited for the glue to run off the brush for quite a few seconds.  This puzzled me for a bit but I think I figured out why, Yasaka claims that Super Speed is up to 20% faster than other conventional speed glues and I think this is due to the difference in the ratio of expanding solvents to adhesive solvents.  This would also explain why it took up to 10 minutes just for the blade to dry.  After all was said and done I went out to play, my racket then was the Timo Boll Spirit with Bryce FX.  I only put one layer on but did use the Russian (glass) way of gluing.  My first thought was that it wasn't anything special but as the warmup went on, I found I was badly mistaken.  The more I played, the faster the racket bacame!  After about 15mins. of playing this baby was HOT!  There was rocket fast speed and power from anywhere on the court and it had a very loud "tock" sound.  Some of this may have been due to the rubber but this glue was seriously faster that any other I had tried.

My conclusion is this, If you are looking for the absolute fastest setup on earth and the last piece of the puzzle is glue than this is for you.  If you just want something to liven your racket up a bit, STAY AWAY!!!  This glue is crazy fast, stinks to high heaven and isn't cheap to boot at about $17usd for a 250mL.  I hope my spiel has provided you with useful information about the "super speed glue".

WARNING: If you do decide to get this glue, it gives off more harmful vapors than any other glue I know of.  Use it only in very well ventilated areas and make sure nobody else is in your viscinity when you open it for the first time.

More than you know

nail polish remover gets its smell usually from either acetone or ethyl acetate, most likely acetone. both are very strong solvents ie stronger than the normal speed glue thinners. wonder if its got that in it?

That is an interesting idea about Super Speed's composition.  I wonder if anyone else has sais anything about that.  Do they use acetone in other speed glues also?
