Hello. I have a Hurricane 3 on my forehand, and I think it is very good! I have been thinking of getting a H3 on my backhand.. But somebody says it is too heavy to have 2 H3 rubbers.. Is this true?

It is if you're a penholder... but it should be ok for a shakehander... my friend uses 2 skylines on his blade and they weigh as much as Hurricane |

I am a SH player and I switched ot H3 (glued) on both FH & BH about one month ago (I had been using Bryce Max glued). My blade is 85 grams and to my surprise, having the dual sheets of H3 feels fine -- its not too heavy! NOTE: I am using 38 durometer H3 which might be lighter than typical 40 - 42 durometer H3. Your milage may vary. I've found that the H3 on the backhand has really improved my control and my over the table backhand loop. I'm very happy with this combination and think it has been overlooked by many for fear of it being too heavy. (Certainly some chinese rubber sheets are too heavy to use on both sides.) |

Ok, thanks JRSDallas! You say that you are glueing H3.. How do you glue them? I have tried and I just cant get any glueeffect out of them. It is like the tacky surface is taking over the effect.. Do you know what i mean? Mabey it is something with the glue.. I use Butterfly Fair Chack! |

butterfly fair chack is perfect for h3. Put 2 layers on it. The key here is not for it to dome dramatically, but to soften the sponge for much better control.

H3 is good for Schlager type of backhand ( loop drive ) , not suitable for loop spin type of backhand ( Boll, Persson, Kreanga )

try looping with the h3 unglued, then try it with 2-3 layers of fair chack, persson light, whatever thicker speed glue. You will feel a big difference in terms of sponge hardness.

sure, i usually glue 30 minutes before i go play
1. one evenly spread layer on the h3 2. wait 10 minutes 3. another layer on the h3 4. a layer on the blade 5. wait 10 minutes 6. glue put it together and i use a Raid bugspray can to roll it on there. 7. the joy of h3 |

You can get an excellent dome using only one layer of glue if you use the glass gluing method. I only use one layer of Fair Chack Light.

H3 isn't that heavy. I find it quite light. Try 729 40H and 40S, then you have heavy . I think there would be better options for backhand than H3 (my opinion). Mostly because of high throw factor with bouncy DHS sponge effect... I knew a guy who had H3 on both sides. When his backhand loops hit they were superb. But he was very inconsistant. Guess glue would help alot... |

Hum... what glue did you use? H3 tends to perform at its best with thick speed glue, and it should not dome too much...perhaps you put too much on it...

The H3 doesn't seem to soften with glue, it just seems to speed up and get bouncier. I think you need to start with soft H3 and not hard H3. If you have 42-45 hardness sponge, then its going to feel hard...even if you speed glue it to death.

It doesnt get softer after 1 glueing. Sometimes it takes 3 to 5 sessions before it plays the way I want it. After that it is good for a year if you take care of it. At first I use 3 layers then 2 untill it is playing the way i want then 1 layer before I play. |

I am penhold and use two hurricane 3, after a while the weight doesnt' really bother me. I can't seem to get my hurricanes to have any speed glue effect either so I gave up on it cuz it just waste my time and glue and rubbers!
