On the butterfly website, it says that some foreign markets are producing imitation rubber. Has anyone experienced this problem? After lookin at some website stores located in asia, some butterfly are way cheaper, even at half price. What do you guys think about this?

I have heard about that as well. My friend bought a bunch of Srivers once for dirt cheap and found out they were the fake stuff. They don't feel the same and they don't last at all.

It sounds like it is pretty hard to tell them apart (real vs fake).  We could potentially be buying Fake T05 from this forum, right?

What is there to do?????

there are some clear tell tale signs for what rubbers are fake. price is a big deal, and its usually a very obvious discrepancy. Some well known sellers will price tenergy less than what butterfly says (for example, Iruiru), but this doesn't mean its fake, its only like a 5-10$ difference. The other huge give away is something you can see in this fake Spin Art
http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=12808300910 - http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=12808300910
There is a gap between the bottom of the rubber and the stamp on the rubber. Real butterfly rubbers have no gap, and the bottom of the stamp is the bottom of the rubber. You can see in pictures 2 and 4 there is about a 1-2mm gap. Finally, sponge color. You cna also see in this product that the color of the sponge is very off compared to the real thing.

If we assume that makeing Table tennis (rubber and sponge + packaging etc) is a technical process then not every one can make it, therefor it (fakes) must be made in a Legal Table tennis rubber manufacturing  company in China, and at some some will be caught out.
I recently saw some Butterfly Tenergy Rubbers at a slightly lower price, so I emailed to ask if they were genuine, thier reply was yes, so my wife who is Chinese and from the same City asks them and they said not real only fakes lol

Anybody know what the white sticker with chinese on the back is all about?  It was on the Tenergy that I bought locally in China.  Do you think mine is fake?  It plays just like real Tenergy.

Most Tenergy users I know can make their real Tenergy last more than 6 months; some play with one sheet for a year; the record belongs to that JPEN player (usatt 2000 level or close; all strokes with the same rubber) who changes every year playing 3 to 4 times a week.
I will never buy again any BTY rubber for personal reasons but for those who do not care about a brand or another, the decision to buy real Tenergy or not is based on the question: "what is the value of the confidence that I have a reliable product presenting the same characteristics from one rubber to the next?". I say that value is very high.

+1.
Agree with this.
Consistency is very important.
I am using IQUL rubbers now (i bought 8 total from same batch) but some post made in other thread say that this rubber became different in other batch and i became worried.

I am afraid it's too strict a requirement to ask of those knock-off factories, when even a genuine quality brand like Butterfly that claims "World Leading Quality" has trouble meeting that expectation.

While consistency may be the ultimate goal we all hope for in just about anything, in mass-production quantity has priority over quality.  The same goes for every thing in this world.  Take for example the eletronics, during its product lifecycle inside your gaming console the motherboard and the chips on it can go under multiple revisions that mostly involve simplification with one major purpose - to reduce the manufacturing costs while at the time increase production volume.

This applies to all brands, not just Butterfly.  Your best bet in getting the best quality in a product is probably starting with the second or third batch after its first release in the market, as the first batch can sometimes contain or reveal imperfections during production. This continues well into the first year after release while market share is building and anything after that is anyone's guess.
