Hi all,

I've been using the Cybershape blade for a while now - I quite like the overall lightness, large sweetspot and balance of weight towards the head, which works well for smashes and blocks.

However, I'm struggling with FH (and BH) looping including open ups. I feel I can't get the same bite on the ball as I used to with Viscaria or Timo Boll ALC. 

Could you suggest any rubbers that might improve the looping capability of this blade? I've already tried Tenergy 05 (slipping, requires too much attention to angles and opponent's spin), Dignics 05 (too direct, maybe ok for BH), Dignics 09c (too slow), DNA Dragongrip (not spinny enough), K3 (horrendous durability, unasable after 2 weeks).

I feel like I'm running out options. I like the shape of Cybershape so changing the blade would be a completely last resort. I don't boost.

Any tips are much appreciated.

Maybe Victas TDE? It seems to be much faster than 09c, but less spinny.

If D09c on a Cybershape is too slow, then nothing will likely solve your problem.  You can try Stiga DNA Platinum H or the new DNA hybrid since those are said by Stiga players to go well with the blade.  I like the bite I get with Joola Golden Tango but it you find 09c too slow, then GT will probably be too slow for you as well.

Let me guess, you want good control too?

At some point, usually near "running out of options", one must realize that if they find deficiencies with nearly every rubber that is popular with the best players in the world and many advanced players around the world, the issue is user error and not the limitations of the equipment.

Well, this magic rubber actually exists, you only need to remove it from the blade of one of the CNT players and glue to your blade.
Oh wait, none of them use Cybershape model...

Not to hijack this thread completely but here are my thoughts on the Cybershape Carbon.  I originally rambled about it on TTD but TLDR:  The blade is really good, but whether it is the shape or the Stiga Inspira foundation is not clear!

"I actually wanted to make some comments on the Cybershape Carbon. I was going to either put it on an existing Cybershape thread or open a new one or write a review. Using it for a while now, I can see why some players hate it but why it suits my game more than I realized (though I am still going to test that Mizutani lol). I think it also helps me see to some degree how good innerforce carbon blades can be and makes me wonder whether all these advanced fibers are really that much better than a well designed inner carbon blade.

For those who don't know, the Cybershape Carbon is basically the Stiga Inspira CCF with a different head shape and a colored outer ply (still Koto). Butterfly only had one innerforce carbon blade that I remember and Butterfly gives their innerforce blades Limba outer plies. I have often wondered why but didn't care too much because I am not a fan of Koto. The Tamca 5000 blades with Koto outer plies play like bricks. The Boll T5000 and the ZJK T5000 are almost discontinued.

However I really liked the Innerforce T5000. Decent to great for looping but great for smashing and blocking. I used to think it was a limba thing. But the Cybershape has changed my mind about that. I think the fact that Stiga can make a blade that competes with the top butterfly blades using an innerforce carbon koto design makes me wonder whether Butterfly just never made one because they didn't want to lose the Sales of their more expensive blades. Of course I could just be conspiracy theorizing while in the honeymoon period. Maybe the Inspira and the CC were really hard to design and Stiga just had a designer hit a formula that Butterfly couldn't get to.

Regardless, I have been really impressed with the performance of tbe first innerforce carbon Koto blade that I have used so far. There are still things I need to work on with it, but it has definitely expanded my thinking as to what is possible in blade making.

That said I know some people who think the Cybershape Carbon is only good for hitting and blocking. I think the Carbon makes this a strength for sure, but I do think its forward kick on loops is pretty good, though I can imagine that people who prefer thinner looping blades or who like outer carbon might prefer a composite. So maybe it is just me who likes the way innerforce carbon plays.

If you think DNA DG isn't spinny enough, this is a technique issue. The fact that you cite T05 has being inadequate because you have to pay too much attention to the opponents spin... buddy, you better find a new sport.

Thanks for all the tips - useful comments (some more humorous than others).

I think one of the reasons for my potentially unrealistic expectations is that I'm benchmarking my rubbers against heavily boosted set-ups I've borrowed and used from my co-players. Those did perform very well in all respects - and I'm struggling to find something similar amongs non-boosted rubbers.

Hitting with someone's blade for 5 minutes is not performing well.  One can always do things that blow you away in testing but after using something for a week, become dissatisfied with this or that.  In the end, you have to master your equipment,  not have the equipment master you.  As the timeless saying goes, Man makes the money, money never makes the man."

Sounds like K3 is where you should be, you just have to boost when the factory booster dies.
