    Posted: 05/22/2008 at 12:16am

I have a brand new Prashidha Samurai (Glass Fiber) OFF+ Chinese Penhold made in Japan for sale. This is currently the top blade for Prashida. This blade has excellent control for its speed. The blade is currently retail for $200.

The only reason for selling is because I have changed to Shakehand. For trade for shakehand blade and equipment are welcome.

As a special deal I will throw in 2 brand new Prashidha Frankfurt rubbers (red and black cut for the blade) with special tension rubber protectors which are worth $60.

I happy to sale the wholelot for a $175 including postage within Australia.

A quick review:

This is indeed a beautiful blade with excellent control and its extremely light for 7ply. You can glue a light rubber on the reverse side and really rip through with the reverse backhand loop. The added control definitely makes the RBH strokes a lot easier to master than on most blades.

I only tried this blade at the store where I brought it from but with a different rubber setup. At the time I just couldn't believe how good the control was for its speed and I hardly missed the table when looping or pushing. To sum it up you have full control and can easily place the ball where you want it. The fiber glass seem to absorb the vibration really well as I didn't feel any noticeble vibration like on a regular wood blade.

Having never tried fiber glass layer blade before this blade, the fiber glass really complements the wood layers well. The feel is there minus the vibration.

I have to say the balance of this blade is excellent. The light cork handle really reduce the overall weight of the blade and give you that extra grip and soft feel compared to regular wooden handle, especially if you have sweaty hands. Now I can see why alot of penhold players like cork handle on Butterfly blades.

In the past  I have owned and tried both the hurricane C-pen (Full Wood) and the Butterfly Taskim (Arylate Carbon). Before the Samurai, I have never picked up a c-pen blade and played well with it instantly, except for keyshot light. The control of the Samurai is comparable to keyshot light but is alot faster. So I would personally rate this blade on the Offence + side.

I hope this short review helps anyone who is interested in the blade.

Gazzer,

I think you'll find it hard to sell/trade this blade. Prashida, although has good products but they're not popular. Not much information and reviews are available out there so people are having a hard time to pay quite a sum of money for it. Just my take on the matter... Good luck!

This is the top model. I have tried many other penhold in the shop but couldn't believe how nice this blade plays. I only come across this blade in asia recently. I would love to get my hand on a shakehand version. Do you know anyone selling a shakehand version?

No matter top model or not, without much info or reviews, people won't spend much money on it.

Actually, I believe Prashida's TOP model is still the Prashida Kendo. It's the most expensive blade in Indonesia. About USD$240.

The local store here is selling the Samurai SH here... Wink And yes, Samurai is a newer model for Prashida. Another popular model, which I have seen quite many people using it here is the Prashida Hinoki Carbon 1902 I think. It also has newer version of it recently. The new version difference is on the handle mainly. Handle is now uses CORK (like Samurai) instead of all wood (old version). Head area is also different now (cosmetically), having text/prints just as normal bty prints with name and speed categories instead of name and small picture (old version).
