I'm a bit surprised that Koki Niwa didn't beat at least one of Lin Gaoyuan and Song Hongyuan, didn't even force a 5th game.

they need to start injecting some HGH into Niwa if he is going to become a threat  to the Chinese, or else we're going to see another Japanese player who lacks powerLOL

In the team event final, Japan vs China:

Two surprises:
Niwa Koki, ITTF world junior (boy) #1 ranked, did not win.
Ishikawa Kasumi, ITTF world junior (girl) #1 ranked, did not win.

They both ranked #1 (by ITTF) in the world, they both lost to Chinese junior players.

Yuto Muramatsu still managed to defeat Zheng Peifeng though. I guess being a chopper in the junior world can have its advantages.

Muramatsu destroyed Robinot. Some people undestimate def/mix players because just see zjk winning joo. but here is an example that there are a lot of very good players as Robinot who can have a lot of trouble against a good defender/mix player.

interesting game by Muramatsu.

well this is a game to show to the people who say when they are destroyed by a guy playing pips 'a good player would destroy you'. 'look at Robinot who is supposed to be better player than a good one you would think about'.

I am really really impressed by Muramatsu. In fact we have an 11yo youngster who is showing some amount of talent. I'm thinking of suggesting he copies Yuto but no pips as yet as he likes to BH loop from distance.
Any advice?

There is a German penhold player in this tournament who has a playing style like Wang Hao.  LOL
He just lost to Lerentz Romain 4-1 though.

He's still under 15 and he's good for his age IMO. I think he'll be much better in a couple of years gaining more physical power and experience.

Besides, he was the only German boy reaching last 32. Too bad for Germany.

He has a similar style like Wang Hao, playing only the Reverse backhand on his backhand. Does he idolize Wang Hao?? LOLLOL

When Muramatsu was starting out, he only used inverted on both sides, only recently has he switched to pips on bh (although they are SP, not LP, maybe by time he is 18 he will be using LP). Yuka Ishigaki (also top 100 Japanese chopper) started off with inverted on both sides. So I think right now you can develop the technique with the inverted on both sides, then switch to a spinnier sp, then maybe the LP in a few years when your young player can handle them properly.

Don't think so - at least, his grip looks more like He Zhi Wen's (wide claw)...  I think for a penholder player being coached in Europe pretty normal to use only RPB since a rare (none?) European coach can help developing TBH...

His name is Qiu Dang, and his father Qiu Jianxin is the long-time coach of the Frickenhausen Bundesliga team.
http://www.ttc-matec-frickenhausen.de/trainer/

Dang also has an older brother, Liang, who plays shakehand. Father and sons all play on Frickenhausen's B team in the second division.

Since Wang Hao become Successful with the 2 wings top spin style with reverse backhand, more and more juniors around the world are definitely imitating his style of play, for example, this German junior player and the Taiwanese junior player who also plays in this tournament. Not to mention cantero who also uses reverse Penhold backhand style.

The French has so many good juniors in this tournament, Gauzy, Flore, Robinot, Lorentz. (have I missed anyone?)  I think they will be a force in Table tennis like Germany in a few years time.

Better not to Wink  Cantero plays pips on FH and his style is very close to LGL rather than to WH.
