That was the format. Day 1: 2 matches Day 2: 2 matches (if tied 2-2, play a 5th match) I would have preferred that they follow the Europe Vs Asia format. You don't have people sitting out, everyone gets to play.

Dima's forehand was soo off during that match. Shame. He could have probably won if it was working better

agreed. dima's forehand looked awful.
And who the hell designed the shirts for the world team? They look so awful, like a bunch of clowns while the Chinese team looks professional

Ovtcharov didn't look bad, you have to give respect to WLQ who still maintains a really good body shape and playing form. He hasn't really slowed down all that much honestly. Good strategy from WLQ to direct everything into the body or wide FH, then switching back to BH. This thrown off Ovtcharov a lot. Also I think Ovtcharov was a bit weaker on the FH side today.

I have watched the whole match and Dima was coughing real bad between games several times which did not show up in the short form video above. He did play a fine game if you watch it live as he was in one stage 2:1 in the lead and only 1 game from winning. It was obvious that he did not feel well and can't keep up anymore in the last stage when the match drag to the full length. What a pity.

It's funny to me- every time any kind of match is played with two known players, the loser was sick or secretly injured and the winner was lucky. Doesn't matter who it is for the most part, every time there's a match that would be even kind of close.. this is the case.

This was the first time ever I saw any player coughing that bad on a TV broadcast.

Regarding the match between Wang Liqin and Dmitri Ovtcharov, I think it's about tactical execution and it could be true that Ovtcharov being sick but he was ahead 2-1.
It's clearly that Wang Liqin is stronger on the forehand side while Ovtcharov is stronger on the backhand side.
The first game was all Wang Liqin while he unleashed his forehand while Ovtcharov missed his forehand a lot.
The second and third games, Ovtcharov used his backhand serves with backhand smash/counter/loop to dominate Wang Liqin. I think Wang Liqin wasn't ready for those strong backhands from Ovtcharov and on top of that, he had problem with the backhand serves from Ovtcharov.
The fourth game is the decisive game which I think Wang Liqin changed his tactic by going to Ovtcharov's forehand more and Wang Liqin blocks/counter better on his backhand. This game did show that Ovtcharov coughed more which I think it could be why he lost his concentration or being tired but no matter what, Wang Liqin adjusted and came back from behind to tie 2-2.
The fifth game is clearly for Wang Liqin since he adjusted well to Ovtcharov attacks/serves while Ovtcharov (again, probably too tired from being sick) couldn't find any better way to change the outcome.
It's just my observation.

By the way, it could be very bad for Wang Liqin to lose that match since Ovtcharov was sick and I think if Wang Liqin didn't change his tactic, Ovtcharov would have won that match 3-1.

Money is decent for a brief invitation like this. Although it is far less than a few popular sports, it is still better than many other sports.
