in that rally (at 1m22s), the 6th bh block from zjk is a bit of a chop block; is that wanted? does the opening paddle motion happen after the ball has already left the paddle? it does not seem ml had to change anything in the way he looped what came back.
Not a chop block. The ball caught the net and changed path, and Zhang Jike in turn adjusted his blade angle.

Liang Jingkun was hero of the day 1. He won 3 - 1 against Zhang Jike and 3 - 1 against Ma Long.

You're welcome.

Ugh! Fan Zhendong lost the 2nd game.

P.S. Made it to 10:10 after a 2:8 deficit, but still succumbed 12:14 in the third.

crafty little fox that Fan Zhendong. It is interesting that his game is more relying on craft than overpowering, you would guess the second by looking at his physique and aggressive expression.

Ma Long has grown a lot. His ability to withstand pressure at game end has really impressed me. I think he will do better at the next WTTC.

Fan used to play shortpips on backhand. Maybe that has something to do?

Ma Long has surely changed a lot lately. He is changing up the pace in the middle of a rally with the chop block quite a bit since the game against Lee Sang Su at the Asian Championships 2013. Hopefully, he can make it to the final in 2015.

Zeio, can you pm me if you know when they are gona play the Ma Long Zhang Jike match on that link?

Impressive performance from both of them so far.

WH doing bad as usual these days, can't beat anybody important any more, but I don't think he's done yet. One of these days he will surprise us. He still got a couple of ITTF Pro Tours  wins in him.

Looks like it. Zhang Jike is whining to Ma Long about his paddle sending shots into the net.

Original source:

P.S. Live broadcast for the 4th and final day starts at 01:00 EST, in case anyone wonders.

Wang Hao will hold out probably until 2015, if not 2016. He needs to go to Tokyo. Stats indicate his only loss ever in any team's event on the world stage is to Ovtcharov at the World Team Cup 2011.

Yes. It is said so. Because this is biggest focus....and If Zjk wins, the game between Ma Long and Xu xin wont influent the outcome. So the schedule changes.
If there is more news updated, I will change the message.
