"Full disclaimer, I'm Korean (but born in the US), and having gone to my native country and been jeered at for my adopted country"

That says a lot right there

"I still think it's unfair to associate such negativity to an entire people. Assholes come in all nationalities and cultural differences can be easy sources of friction even with neighboring countries (just look at how the US think of stereotypical Mexicans). "

When 9 out of 10 you meet are like that it is hard not to generalize.

It is understandable; if you had learned history in Korean, you would have thought you own the world too.

I'm sorry you both feel this way (not sure if both of you harbor ill feelings against Koreans), but that is a very sweeping generalization to put on a whole set of people. We don't know what transpired here, so let's not be so quick to judgement. Obviously these tournaments have high stakes regardless of the caliber of player and tensions are especially high for ZJK right now.

Full disclaimer, I'm Korean (but born in the US), and having gone to my native country and been jeered at for my adopted country, I still think it's unfair to associate such negativity to an entire people. Perhaps the posters' views above are through rose-colored cultural lenses.
I have no ill feelings against Koreans. Some of my high school buddies are Koreans, and I regularly play TT with Koreans as well. I just try to explain to him why SOME Koreans are like that LOLLOLLOLLOL

Final Ends in Great Concern, Chen Meng Rushed to Hospital

10/02/2015 SUZUKI 2015 ITTF Asian Championships,26 Sep 2015 - 03 Oct 2015, Pattaya, THA

Concern not celebration concluded the penultimate day of play, Friday 2nd October, at the Suzuki 2015 ITTF-Asian Championships in Pattaya, Thailand; the name of the champion is that of China’s Zhu Yuling but there were no celebrations from the quiet well-mannered 20 year old.

Proceedings in the final of the Women’s Singles event terminated abruptly when, with Zhu Yuling leading by two games to one, Chen Meng stopped, unable to move, clearly in great pain.

Please, stop making blanket remarks that disparage entire nationalities (races, etc.).  It is against the rules of this forum.

No worries. WCT beat JWJ 4:0 the next day and it is settled.

There is no video around but news report said that there was a controversial point in game six while ZJK claimed the ball touch JWJ's jersey, yet he returned the ball and end on JWJ's side of table. Umpire denied his claim and award the point to JWJ. LGL protest and said even the ball did not touch JWJ's jersey the point should gave to ZJK or replay because the ball was end on JWJ's side. Head umpire was called but umpire insist the ball end on ZJK's side so the point still stand. LGL proposed to view his game recording but also denied.

After the match JWJ was seen raise his face towards Zhang Jike making provocative expression. He was stopped by his coach. ZJK was irritated and made a stand but also stopped by LGL. Yet many news headline criticized ZJK for nasty action after losing the match. Probably nothing more than trying to attract reader's attention.

Not that it needs to be said, and not that it matters.. but ZJK would absolutely wreck Jang WooJin.

Based on JWJ's comments after the match, he sounded a bit snooty on the whole matter. But I agree that it's probably being made into something much bigger than it actually is.

LoL, 0:4 to WCT? So rather JWJ winning the match, ZJK lost and gave the match to him on a silver platter. Nothing to be cocky about. I know from personal experience, sometimes when I play my friends who are better than me, I can tell that they are not trying particularly hard or having a bad day and when I manage to win, I don't feel the triumph, either cause I know it was not their A-game. JWJ is not humble at all. His mom should teach him some manners and humility.

But again, getting a win against ZJK, i don't know, it's tough not to have it getting over your head. lol

Final between FZD and XX. Live at 6:00 AM

Can FZD beat XX for once?  XX seems to be in good shape for the whole tournament.

What a game. So happy that FZD eventually won.

Love the way he played the first three games. I thought it would be another disappointment for him after XX came back to 3:3.

This statement is impossible, as JWJ didn't even participate in the WTTC this year...

=====================

Voids.Q is absolutely correct.

Further more:  Searched RC and ITTF's Head-to-Head, FZD and JWJ have never played against one another before.

張宇鎮 is the Chinese name of the Korean Jang Woojin. This will help you search for videos.

For people not in China, the same video can also be found on youtube.

As a side note, his name in Chinese characters should be 張禹珍.

Same for Lee Sangsu, which should be 李尚洙, rather than 李相秀.

Thanks for the correction. However, many videos use 張宇鎮.
I can't tell what is correct except for the surname (張).
In Hangul, his name is 장우진, which also helps in searching.
