LYJ was in bad condition, he played too fast in European Championship Team Group's. He lost with Lev Katsman and he didn't look like beast.
Harimoto- he is young player who plays in competition in young age but his success in young age makes him more and more demotivated when he start to see lack of progression so for me he must hide from the world, gain so muscles, take so many baddies from hood and take lessons from all real n8 and start new life and after year of degeneration when he lose everything, make a comeback without shouting and wearing gold necklaces. For me at this level young players are under the pressure and you can see that Harimoto is not with good vibes. |

It seems that a lot of audiences are just standing outside of the barrier. Never seen this in other events.

I thought Moregard would not make it at some point, it was so close.

Moregard up 7-3 in 7th. Then down 8-10, I thought he was going to give it away but somehow pulls through. His no spin pushes gave Franziska a lot of trouble.

In the Bundesliga thread I predicted Kanak would make the final 16. I hope he proves me wrong and goes further. His consistent style is really working well in this tournament.

Japan is off. Shibata actually performed the best. Hayata second. Nothing to pick on for their first time. Ito and Hirano third. Ishikawa fifth as she has the easiest draw. Uda a complete train wreck. Morizono gave his best. Niwa should have retired along with Mizutani. Harimoto gave off the same vibe as in the Olympic singles, not good, not bad, not ugly, but just didn't feel like he was winning when having the lead. Togami put up a decent performance for his first time. Didn't find his groove in the R32 against WCQ due to lack of experience.
South Korea continues its streaky tradition after Tokyo 2020. The eldest SHW and not-so-surprising LJH who missed out on the Olympics happen to be their last hope. Shindong is paying her tuition fee. JJH has been in a slump after the Olympics, especially after losing to Hayata 4 times at WTT and ATTC in a week. Still, Lee Zion and Choi Hyojoo reached their target performance. JWJ, AJH and Hwang Minha all lost with a game score of 3-4, not bad per se, but considering JWJ and AJH were the quarter-finalist and bronze medalist at WTTC 2019, first round exit is deflating. Lim Jonghoon is not so surprising if you've followed him. Running against the tradition, he's got a rather stable record in the World Tour the past few years, which had become really unfriendly to unseeded players after the World Ranking reform in 2018. Similar to South Korea, Chinese Taipei has been all-or-nothing the last few years. CIC is their last hope. Chen Szu-yu performed to expectations. Cheng Hsien-tzu choked but really not much to expect over the years. At age 34, Liu Hsing-yin played well to level her R32 result at WTTC 2019. Li Yu-jhun reached her target on her first try. LYJ and CCY losing 3-4, again not bad per se, but people certainly had high expectations of them after Tokyo 2020 and ATTC 2021. CCY is said to have an injury relapse so another factor to consider. CCA played well at ATTC 2021 so first round exit here was unexpected. Liao Cheng-ting lost to Harimoto in R32 on his first try at WTTC 2017, so a first round exit with that score is a little perplexing. Feng Yi-hsin could become another LYJ but has to pay his tuition fee in his first WTTC. Hong Kong is a pleasant surprise here. WCT is playing his best in recent times. Unlike JJH, DHK looks as solid as in Tokyo 2020, despite losing to Hayata 5 times in a week. After the Olympics, she spent like a month resting, attending local events, playing WTT and ATTC, with little time on systemic training. Lam Siu Hang, Ho Kwan Kit, Lee Ho Ching, Ng Wing Nam, and Zhu Chengzhu reached their target performance. Last but not least, Soo Wai Yam forgot to dye her hair pink. So they are hard to find, but they are there. scroll to the bottom. the latest ones are there. You can watch Boll vs Pang and Franziska vs Moregard.

Franziska had 5-3 with Moregaard in Ettu s Group the funny part is last set is only to 6 points and they serve only one time and change
so Franziska lost in the same situation. Truls performed his best under pressure when he see Franziska

It was such an eye sore. It was as if those who stood watching didn’t want to pay for seating in the VIP sections. Too bad the organizer didn’t do anything about it. Also, the ball boys were absolutely horrendous. I saw two ball boys who were skipping and throwing balls in the air while everyone was waiting for them. Even the umpire got fed up to tell the kids to hurry up. Their parents should be ashamed and embarrassed for volunteering their kids when they clearly looked bored out of their little minds, and the organizer should also be embarrassed for selecting senseless kids who have no sense of seriousness at all. Seriously, some kids were spinning in seats, one was seen planking, another was sitting on the floor, wtf. Total embarrassment for the usatt to show the rest of the world. Last vent was the venue, I’ve always liked stadium held wttcs, but this convention center venue was bad in terms of crowd display. For the round of 16, I would at least expect a lot more spectators, take for example the previous wttcs, you can at least see rows upon rows and levels of spectators. But over here, there is only one level of rows of spectators. I believe with such poor spectator turnout from this past few days, ittf will take a hard look again at hosting another etc on US soil in the future.

Jha has Filus next. They played twice in Germany in 2020-21 (TTBL and German Cup), with Kanak winning the first match and Ruwen the second (3-2 each time). But both seem to be stronger now than last year. Lily Zhang played a great match by the way, she would have deserved to advance too.

Hi,
Our boy Truls will beat Lim of South Korea. Truls' diversity is troubling for those out of the orthodoxy as the Koreans are. Thanks.

Some amazing experiences so far. Very disorganized tournament as the US doesn't know how to organize these things.
I was at dinner while Harimoto was choking his I got to see Korea and Chinese Taipei in a cheering match. Lim Jonghoon almost threw away multiple chances to close it out but came through in the end. Cheering Quadri and Kanak will make me lose my voice. Zeio is spot on in his analysis of Japan and South Korea. The Korean men really messed up the bed and Harimoto did his thing. think the European women have improved a ton and come closer to the non-Chinese Asians but China is too far ahead of everyone. Fan Zhendong doesn't miss. Hard to put it any other way. Amy Wang still needs a forehand. Though maybe she might just be another Harimoto and get better with age. Lily Zhang surprised me in her final match but then again I heard she beat Sharon Alguetti badly earlier this year (shows how out of touch I am). The Sung sisters will be really good if they keep playing. Adriana Diaz will be in the top 10 some day. Mima Ito smashes are blindingly fast just like on TV. Bruna Takakashi beats Manika Batra and everyone says it is a good win for Bruna, even though she is a higher seed than Manika. Fan Zhendong vs Wang Chuqin is going to be fire! |

I lost my hearing in that crowd. I recorded the last two minutes because of how animated the Korean national team was in the stands z they stood up to cheer every point Lim won. There was another section behind me cheering LYJ and it was a real battle. I gained a new respect for TT fans - let no one ever deceive you that we aren't true fanatics.

Given that Gauzy beat the exact same chopper in 2019 really badly, this is a weird take. After beating Wang in 2019, Gauzy talked about his experience in the Bundesliga and how familiar he was with choppers. That said, he had a marathon match with Wang at the European top 16 in 2020 or 2021 and lost. Also complained quite a bit during it. So Wang now has Gauzy's number. Nothing to do with a lack of experience playing choppers. There were enough choppers in the training rooms if he needed practice. Wang played really strong.
