Ah yes, I saw him play once on tv at the World Cup 2005. I liked his serve, but Ma Lin crushed him though...

he is playing in our league. He was the best but this year a young chinese guy beat him. I dont think he is playing like gatien. He is a allrounder. He is a both wing looper but he can do everything like serve&kill, chop, counter, lob... He is more like JM saive.

hi
looks like you are promoting this guy. he is just ok. he is a good player but far from being a champion. ok he won african champion when it is being played in cairo his home country with hostile crowd and sorrounding. how was his performance in the 49 wttc. has he ever gotten past 1st round  if at all in wttc since he has been playing for the last ten years. any way i don't believe he can repeat african champion again this year. the whole world all know who the real african champion champions are in table tennis. the dreaded nigerians of course.

you sound just like the canadians promoting their new chinese import a couple of weeks ago and suggesting he will win the commonwealth medals or at least silver. again what happend to him at the wttc and the commonwealth. i don't think he lived up to expectation and he did not win any medal.

hi

pls do not be confused with this african championship held on by saleh. this is not a much recognised event, it usually a preparative event for the real african championship.  the real african championship 2006 is held by segun toriola of nigeria. it is played i believe every 2yrs and the next one will be held in algeria next month or so. i hope toriola will defend his title there too.

manluski, no mind dem. Nigeria has always been Africans table tennis champs for decades. Egypt does have a strong team and a few good players, but, Toriola is a step above all other Africans, before him it was Atanda Musa.

In fact, Nigeria already has very strong players, as I said earlier, Toriola and Atanda Musa, but in this period, Egypt was also big and very strong in the game of table tennis. Toriola and Atanda were heroes Africa except for some old times where the African championship for the Egyptians as Ashraf Helmy 1992 and thereafter to be determined second place, I always Aeedk in, but since I played Ahmed Ali Saleh Championship Africa at the international level and save defeated all the players in Nigeria 2000 Ahmed Saleh won Champion of Africa and all of its matches in both the difference in my husband or men and mixed doubles monopolized Egypt by the time all the titles in this championship, which was in Addis Abeba and is currently in the world rankings Toriola Lies Ahmad Saleh, but we find in terms of the confrontations between them find Ahmad Saleh always prevail where defeat in three matches versus 0 to Toriola. We all know that the classification is not categorical on the Governing players both defeated the seeds were much higher level of government here, but fun since 2000, the force will prevail and Egypt are also currently installed.

Hey Manluski,

could you plz tell me what the hell are you talking about ?!!!!!

Your from the US and ur talking to us as if you are an african

Ahmed Saleh always beats Toriola Segun whenever they meet in any real competition

And about the " the whole world all know who the real african champion champions are in table tennis. the dreaded nigerians of course." are you kidding ? this was true but maybe 10 years ago or something like that
This year in the africans cup Egypt beated Nigeria 3-0 in teams

And when you talk about Egypt and Nigeria you can't just talk about " Ahmed Aly Saleh " and " Toriola Segun " because you have to compare the whole 2 associations not just the best two players in each country .. and when you compare Egypt and Nigeria as association of course Egypt is gonna be better like 10,000 times because go to the www.ittf.com and go to the juniors and seniors results and participations and all the stuff there and you will find that Egypt participates in many junior protours especially with our junior ( Omar Asar ) he is no.5 on protour standings now i think.. but the point is that I never find any participations for Nigeria in any international tournaments and for me ( as an african ) I dont think that they have any good generations of young players in the recent time .. For now they just live for the histories of Segun, Musa, Monday, etc... but as an association they are not improving at all and they are getting worse everyday

And I am not talking all that because I'm an egyptian and because I'm trying to make my country better ( NOOOOOOOOOO ) .. I know we are not that good but when it comes to Africa I think we're no.1 now .. with the point that Nigeria was no.1 about 10 years ago

Thanks,
3ageeb

hey man

yes saleh may have beaten segun before, and so many nigerians have beaten saleh also and many more will start beating him soon. you should get used to that. the last meeting between segun and saleh was in the african championship played in abuja nigeria in 2006 and segun won 4-1.
correct me if i am wrong.

i have a lot of friends from nigeria and even in the team. the team that played this year at the african cup is without segun toriola, kazeem etc. i also agree that nigeria tt association is going in the wrong direction especially in the last 10yrs of their so called democratic goverment, which in my opinion is just as bad as their milatary one.

having said that, i don't mean to hurt your feelings, but as far as sports such as tabletennis, i still believe nigeria can take on egypt anytime anyday. there are so many talented players their and with lots of interest. egypt is far from being nigeria's problem even with their chinese coaches which they have had for years. their only hope is to import chinese players to play for them as many countries are doing for them.
thanks

No ! You've got me wrong Smile

I didn't get my feelings hurt

I was just saying the truth that we're simply no.1 in Africa & Arabs right now

If you have a different opinion well then thats ur own point of view but the fact says that Egypt no.1 in Africa now

And by the way, wait for Egypt in Algeria I think they will get first in everything Smile

So, we've got a bet about it ? Tongue

hi
i agree with you about partication in protours and junior international competion by egypt and that is why they have improved tremendously. i have to commend their leadership. in addition, nigeria is an underdeveloped and corrupt country.  poor and irresponsible leadership if their is any. in addition egypt is much developed technologically and almost in every aspect compared to nigeria.
nigeria does not appreciate or have any plans to modernize nor embrace science.

also, on the contratry, nigeria's standard continues to fall.  In fact someone told me there is not a single national tt competition in nigeria. so how can they participate in protours and jnr international competition.

having said that still rely on many old players and hope to develop some new ones soon i hope it is not too late.  in fact, atanda musa is still a top player in the usa. i don't think your saleh can defeat musa. you may inquire if you have any friends in the usa.

Well I agree with you about everything .. ur right and thats what I was saying Thumbs%20Up

Except the Ahmed Saleh cant beat Musa !!!!!!!
This is stupid

Because what made Ahmed Saleh beat :

Blaszczyk in 2003
and Gardos Robert in 2005
and one of the legends ( Ma Wenge ) in 2001

I wont think its gonna be that hard to beat Musa Smile

Ahmed Saleh is an excellent player
Its just because people dont see him that much but he can beat anybody in the world except the chinese and the top europeans

ahmed saleh now and since 2000 is The greatest player in Africa in african championchip 2000 he was 20 years old and he won the champions.
After one year playing in the Dutch Championship 2001 and The Chinese player (MA WENGE) defeated by ahmed ali saleh and access to the role 16 It was then seeded fourth in the championship, which is considered one heroics Grand Prix.

hi all... why u guys agree or disagree Ahmed Saleh is better than Segun Toriola !! or toriola is better then saleh????

why dont u compare them with the europian or chinese players??
why dont ask your self how african player can get better and better in order to be in the top 10 list??
both are good players but far from the top 10 or 20 away!
if u say ahmed beat ma wenge: ma used to be top player in the world now he is over than 40 years!!
toriola beat alexei smirnov in the round 128 and lost in the next round to he zhi wen!!! smirnov is  better than he zhi wen!
u cant say toriola is better than ahmed or ahmed is better than toriola cus he beat once a top player!

guys if make one of this player better than the other (ahmed saleh or segun toriola) with silly comments > u make the african top players coruppt
my proposal: egypt and nigeria stop blame each other and think/ plan for the next years to make a good module in order to achieve higher success than nowWink

You have the right to become Africa to compete with the top European and Asian countries in the table tennis Rapparanat must be strong with senior players either Europe or Asia.
But my friend here must decide on African Leadership

If Toriola Segun better than Ahmad Saleh, it is one of the senior players in the world in terms of age, but still old Ahmad Saleh, small as it is currently 26 years.

Let us look to the future
