I don't know him personally but I saw him play this past weekend at the So Cal Open in a match against Ben Johnson. Ben Johnson won as DJ put up a good fight.

ooooooh the mysterious DJ Alto....

He's really not that mysterious. Won cadet boys @ 2006 U.S. Open. I had to play him at Stiga Berkley Open 2006. Of course he's good, plays short pips on forhand and long pips on backhand....

I still got a game off him though

He just switched to inverted both sides and is now being trained for the next US open by Stellan Bengston. His father said that his playing level dropped big time but Stellan says in 4-6 months time his game will be better than before.

ummm...have you ever been to san diego? Its paradise inside the greater 48. I bummed hes switching to inverted. If anyone has seen him play before his style was so unique and amazing. Im so sad that they feel he should play like everyone else. I think high level coachs should dev indiv styels. not just overall types.

You're incorrect as DJ does not think like the "normal" player and since you don't practice with us you wouldn't know.  You should've seen him when he was half the size he is now.

Our coaching is to designed help the players in their styles; we let them know the +/- of a way of play and still cover the basics.  Come and visit.

getting him to change to both sides inverted from always playing both sides short pips doesnt seem to be helping him in his style, it seems like completely changing his style.

Former World Champion and World no 1. one of the swedish squad trained by Ogimura. The championship following his victory, he won all his games in the team event and went out in the quarters of singles. Famous for his varied topspin and consistent play. I have a home movie of him at 77 worlds playing Japanese Chopper Takashima with one of the rallies going to 40+ strokes!
