I was watching the Boll-Zhang match, and picked up nearby voice recorder as a 'racket' to check something about strokes. Odd shape, but realized that it seemed to make a rapid and very consistent shift from backhand to forehand grip possible.
It's long, wide, and flat: about 1/2 inch (12 mm) thick. It didn't feel the least bit unnatural, but except for the superCpen (which is for penholders of course), I've never heard of such an idea for a handle geometry. I'm out of playing for many years, but always wondered about some way of rapidly and securely shifting from backhand to forehand grip, and thought of various technical ways to do it, including an outer plastic sleeve-handle around the blade-handle proper. But it seemed to me this would make it sort of rattle-y feeling. But I was never a grip-shifter, just didn't like it. I always bent my wrist to switch. But that was hard in tense moments; the wrist would freeze. This seemed to be just right for shifting grip. Anyone ever try this?
