Here is some information I found on the web:
http://forum.oneofakindtrading.com.au/viewtopic.php?p=8627 "Kevlar (aramid family) is different to Arylate (Vectran) in both structure and properties. Vectran is more flexible than Kevlar." --- My own opinion: In general I would agree that the aramid/carbon blade I've used, Juic Hybrid, feels stiffer and bouncier than the arylate/carbon carbon blade I've used, Maze, which may be why the Maze feels better for looping, while the Hybrid feels better at blocking and hitting. Just my 2 cents. |

I have played with a wavestone and an iolite, and to me the aramid has more feeling and seems more crisp

Aramid has more feel and that makes it easier to master the short game than an arylate,. The quality of your short game with Aramid is as good as a wooden blade.
Having said that, I can play as well with arylate carbon blades like the Timo Boll Spirit and Michael Maze, as I can with an Andro Carbo Aramid. |

I agree that at least in my experience the C-aramid blades (Andro, 729 V-6 and one other which I played 10 mins only and I forgot its name) were softer and had more feel than C-arylate (TBS, Maze, Xiom Strad). The only exception is control-oriented Gambler A/C but I think it's due to the wood layers being softer and more controlling, not because of arylate.

Thr Will-Power LKT is a very sturfy blade with enough speed and no vibration compared to the other blades I know meaning that the "softer" arylate has better vibration damping qualities. And for me that's very important.

I found that my Xiom Control 3 was just right... soft enough to loop, hard enough to hit, short game OK, has feeling (almost the same as a Darker all kinoki blade) but way more control, not dead like the BTY Iolite (Arylate) I play(could not feel the 'smack" of the ball)... the one place it is not outstanding it away from table way back, the Andro KCA was better away from table and was really fast and had moderate control, but my balls went long. Once I EJ the perfect FH rubber I will have the holy grail for at least next six months. Got Roxon, Geospin Tacky on the way, and maybe Yasaka Xtend or Bigslam to try...

Did you ever try Gambler A/C... your description runs pretty close to my impressions from that blade... |

Did you mean sturdy rather than sturfy?

I am kinda liking sturfy... "everything about the blade was perfect except it was just a hair too sturfy"
However, the urban dictionary has a slightly more interesting take on the definition of sturfy (PG-13): http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=sturfy |

Haven't had a chance to hit with it yet. I am pretty happy with what I have now. But I would love to try it. Now that I am settled in with my blade, I am on about EJing for the "perfect" FH rubber now. Got two new rubbers on the way and a second Xiom C3 to EJ with without messing up my #1 setup I do have an all wood Swedish blade coming on the cheap as a combo sacrifice, Banda Virgo http://bandatabletennis.com/info.asp?Prod=blades&ProdId=292 I got the ST handle should have it in the mail in the morning along with some Roxon 450 (nice combo price-- got the rubbers and the blade for $85 USD shipped this was before the sale on Roxon) |
