Just got my entry info this afternoon.

Can't play then.  Its over Thanksgiving weekend.  That's too important a family event in our home.

They should move it a week earlier or later.  They'd double the entries.

Yes it's a bad time to schedule it but as far as I know, its always been scheduled Thanksgiving weekend and is always sold out.  Last year they had a record number of participants, over 950.  They are adding 30,000 extra square feet of playing space for this year.  Its a 3 day event (Fri, Sat, and Sun) and having it over a 4 day holiday weekend makes sense from that perspective.

Its always been an important event.  There was a large group from our locale that participated last year.  But entire families went to Baltimore and celebrated Thanksgiving together out-of-town.

The tournament is big enough to not to need to be concerned with a three- or four-day weekend.  Players will MAKE the time to participate.  Like the U.S. Open, they'll come.

Seems like there was also a team event in Detroit, but I can't remember the details.  It was quite some time ago, maybe 20+ years.

Correct! It was the incarnation of the teams event prior to them moving to Baltimore :) It was held in Detriot.

They should have one in the summer or winter, when people have breaks.
