Most handles are way to small, I felt mine was today. What can I do to fix this problem? Are there any blades made with larger handles?

I purchased some Butterfly Grip Tape. It helped a lot.

I found it way to small. My hand really hurts, and I got one of those bubbles on my finger :(

I felt that way about most of the handles I tried, so I switched from Flared to Anatomic, where the middle is thicker and allows better grip.

Wrap some thick tennis grip onto the handle, 1.8mm, or use Shelly Polymer Repair System that is resin like to cut a layer of this play doll mud before hardening and sand it down to suit your hand feel.

You might want to consider a custom made blade.
I find all commercial handles to be too small for my large hands so I use a blade with an extra-long (115mm/4-1/2") handle that is made by BBC Table Tennis. Having the butt of the handle finally extend beyond the edge of my palm made a huge difference for me. |

Is this big enough? I really have one, very early model I made. It is also thick, 18mm. A new stroke could be developed that is not possible on thin blades. It is called "dou". Very close table to use the edge of blade to "dou" the slow moving ball with unpredictable direction and spin. |

Allot of Butterfly handles are small. Anatomic handles seem to fit large hands better. Stiga blades also seem to have large handles even in their flared handles.

I tried that. Had Butterfly make me a Viscaria wood with a Clearfield handle. Beautiful it was, they charged me 280 bucks to do it (which kind of annoyed my wife who normally says nothing about money I spend on table tennis). Problem is, the thing weighted 98 grams and the weight distribution was all wrong. I probably should have told them to make it with some sort of hollowing out of the handle, but I didn't think about that. I suspect Charlie Smith (BBC) could build me something that would be good, although I really love Butterfly ALC blades. Now I use badminton grips on my small Viscaria handles and actually have become addicted to it so that now if the handle was actually larger I would not like it. |

I make my ST handles with a L 100mm x W 30mm x D 23-25mm and most customers seem pretty comfortable with those dimensions. As far as commercial blades, Stiga's seem pretty comfortable, Hunter's are also a little bigger than the asian companies.

Anyone recommend thickest Cpen handles? I haven't actually owned any but Stiga Cpen handles look thick. My T-11 cpen's handle is too small. : (

As a general rule the Asian company's make blades with small handles for small people and the European companies make bigger handles for bigger people (TSP is perhaps an exception as a lot of their handles are large for a Japanese company). Pretty obvious, Butterfly handles are somewhere in the middle and fit really well for young European males but maybe too small once you grow to adult size. TSP give you detailed handle size for all their blades on the website so Re1Mu23 maybe you can find a large cpen on there. The Stiga Legend is a very wide and long FL handle, Stiga master is smaller but still about normal for a European handle. For me being a normal sized European I get the Legend handle then shave it down until it's "just right" perhaps just slightly bigger once I'm finished than the master handle

Thank you for the quick response. It's weird because I'm obviously Asian and I don't have big hands but I find the handle to small for me which gives me a problem when shifting from FH to BH.
Last question: Are the bigger handles also more "Circular"? I mean less elliptical and less flat such that the foci of the handle aren't too far from one another. |

Just get some wood filler from a hardware store and build up the handle you want on a blade you already like. Repeatedly wet your finger with water and use it to smooth the wood filler to shape. Use a paper towel to wipe away excess and dry areas of the handle you don't want covered.
I do this with many of my blades and I get a perfectly comfortable finish this way and it doesn't add too much weight. I can then sand it down or shave it down with a razor blade if I find I need to tune it.
I added only 2 grams to my blades when thickening the center area of the flare handles of my Wavestones. Obviously the more filler the more weight.

If you get hurt, it might be that the edge is a little sharp, try to make it a little smooth. Otherwise, buy a grip tape, that would do the job.

I have almost the puniest paws and wrist on the planet, but have Popeye forearms. I love the TBS and even that medium sized all time classic feels too small to me. Like Baal, my solutions has been to add grip tape to the point where I don't know how I got along without it. I also could contend for the sweatiest body on hte planet, so the grip tape is valuable. I don't lose a thing for feel and I think my results are better with the tape. I went even cheaper and got thick Tennis grip tape enough for ten blades and spent $2, instead of $5 a pop for BTY grip tape.
