I only used the viscaria from butterfly's alc blade range, as they have the same construction and there was no need to spend another 150€ for pretty much the same or at least very similar thing. Today after watching my old team play against their regional rivals, I got asked if I wanted to hit a few balls with one of the guys from my team. He gave me his old racket which had some used up hexers on a boll alc blade. I haven't been training much the last two weeks, but I thought " hey why not play a few backhand topspins". So I took the racket and it instantly felt really heavy. I didn't know what it was at first, since I don't have a problem with racket weight. But when I started playing with it I realized why it felt so heavy. The weight distribution was the cause. The boll alc was very head heavy which I noticed when playing.

I don't know why some people say that viscaria is for backhand oriented players, because I felt a sensation that I've never really felt before when using the boll alc. When I played a backhand topspin just when my wrist followed my arm movement the racket head quickly followed my wrist. Since the blade was so head heavy and followed after my wrist, the blade hit the ball with so much weight, that the topspin had a really good quality. Compared to my other blades which are more balanced, it was way easier to play a good topspin. I'm really considering getting a boll alc even though I have 3 viscaria's and was thinking about switching to an innerforce.

So you like a head heavy blade with heavy rubbers :)

So does Ovtcharov and many other players
Zhang Jike ALC AN (88g)
Tenergy 05 Hard (2.1, B)
Tenergy 19 (2.1, R)

Is the innerforce also head heavy? And why do people say that viscaria is for backhand oriented players?

Remember individual blades can vary quite widely too. You may have played with a Boll ALC that was head heavy and particularly suited you but another may feel like a Viscaria.

A guy I know has a 10 year old Boll Spirit and can't replace it because no other Boll Spirit or ALC feels as good!

Maybe that's true. But shouldn't the boll alc's be head heavy in general? Sadly I can't buy the blade from him even if I wanted, since it has the AN handle.

I think in one of the videos that TTD Dan did with Timo Boll. TB mentioned that he played with Viscaria when it was first released before it was popular, then he wanted it to be more head heavy for more spin so he got the handle made lighter and then the TB blade was made.......

So I think, yes. The TB is more head heavy than Viscaria.

I'll post again if I can find the video.

I have 3 Viscaria and I switched from the Viscaria to the boll alc about 2 years ago. . The alc is much more powerful and spinnier than
the Viscaria

The question for me is, if every Timo boll blade is head heavy. It's not worth it for me to buy a Timo boll blade if it's not going to be head heavy.

Buy one second hand or get to a shop in person?

You can also make any setup more head heavy simply by adding weighted edge tape, then you can experiment with the desired weight effects before buying a new blade.

i have 84g tb alc st handle and with t05 2.1 both sides it was definitely head heavy. It also depends on which rubbers you use. I also had some edge tape on it which added a little bit more weight to it.

actually the blade is for sale if you are interested.
Main:
Ovtcharov Innerforce ALC 85g
FH/BH: Glayzer 09C 2.1mm

Chopper:
Stratus Power Defense 85g
FH: Hybrid K3 max
BH: Grass D.TecS 0.9mm

USATT: 1725

You understand now Wink ?
The construction may be the same, but the game is different because of the balance.
Timo - from Viscaria to Spirit to ALC. He knows why.
Just ask the owner about the weight (blade/racket), because on this blade may vary alot. Do also calculations with your favourite rubbers.
I tried recently 82gr one for sale and it was rediculous. IMO 86gr. - 88gr. is a good benchmark before final decision.
Good luck finding the one.
PS: I have Innerforce ZLC from the first batch sitting. I can't recommend this blade for people above ... 30 maybe LOL. But if a youngster starts now - this is the blade.

Although TB ALC and Viscaria have the same construction, the difference in handle dimms makes TB ALC a little head heavier than Viscaria.

TB ALC: 100x24mm
Viscaria: 100x25mm

Besides, the shoulder of TB ALC is narrower than Viscaria's. It makes TB ALC lighter in weight and feel a little faster in first contact than Viscaria.

I'm gonna try to trade my Timo boll zlf for a new boll alc. I'm also going to try a few other boll alc's from my club if I get the chance.
