5th best woman in Australia vs Boz.
She beat 3:1 last season (end of 2009). Last week (2010) She beat me 3:2. I am getting closer!
Any other constructive criticism?
ps sorry about the weird format (I got the vid from her and youtube squashed it!)

Excellent, mate. There is hardly any place for criticism, but what i've noticed from the video was that she mostly missed when you managed to attack her body and when your succeeded to keep your balls lower with more side than top spin. You are good buddy....

It looks like you gave her fits when you were in the right position to use your FH and got to take a complete stroke on your attacks! I loved watching her pop the ball up when you loopkilled.
Still some funky "guiding" stuff with the FH when you play a passive stroke.
But as usual, great backhands!
(how come not more down the line to her FH?)

*when u play with your FH u should play the first attack to her BH,and try to play 2 her FH only if u think u can "kill" the ball..
*if u attack with your BH,try 2 place the first ball in the middle, then she'd return pretty weak, and u could attack stronger after.. *when u return a short ball, try doing it 2 her FH cause, with her BH she flips the ball with much spin. when u returned it short to her FH u could have attacked after her long return. *if she attacks u,try 2 make her move.it's easier for her , when the ball is coming to the same place again. she just stands and use same stroke again and again. i hope it helps u... if u can, next time try to upload a longer video... it would be much easier 2 give u advices when we could see many points.. good luck |

-it's a highlight reel of the best shots Boz took in the match.
-without seeing the match it's impossible to see what weaknesses of Boz were exploited.

Thanks guys,
Heim you once again know me very well. I just got home after work now, tired as all hell eating, and have to leave so will comment back later but more specific points.
Just one - most matches on you tube a highlights, I remove points that
1: air swing for no reason
2. service fault or return error
3. etc. really not worth the extra upload and download.
Dondish some great points thanks - I think I beat u to that - the game last week I hammered her backhand constantly...
anyway guys not sure how long I will be able to keep this video online, there maybe sponsorship issues brewing with my BA buddies.

Boz, you're attacking shots have greatly improved. I really enjoyed it.
My 2 cents here- work on your block. I see a lot of chance of improvement in that department.

actually once you block it is all over.
That is the hardest thing to suddenly untrain playing someone that level. You just naturally go to block but you have to say hundred times between every point - don't block!!!!!!!!
The trick is to counter attack even at that speed. Keep up the pressure, dam hard but thats what I learnt last week.
Where the bloody hell are ya?!

Slow, heavy topspin, girls/ladies are often crap at controlling it, they base their game on quick close to the table counter hitting and cannot resist slapping hard especially with their b/hands, five ball attack wins every time. I beat the English no 2 lady recently 11-1 in the final game of a three straight, because she could not play against heavy topspin.

Doesn't work man, she has a more guys type of game. Really top notch spin control. I barely get any errors from her from slow spinning.

Heavy Topspin is truly subjective based on level and familiarity.
We have two US high intermediate players at our club that have "Heavy Topspin loops" - one produces low arc balls with medium pace and heavy spin, the other produces high arc low pace and heavy heavy spin.
Both of them consider themselves "spin loopers", but the second guy uses and incredible quick wrist motion (a small whip from elbow ending in his hand) and produces something that is orders of magnitude more spinny.
Passive blocking with an open face against the first guy will put the ball about 6 feet above the net and 6-8 feet long off the table.
Passive blocking against the 2nd guy with the same angle will put the ball into the cieling everying time... It's a 16 foot cieling.
The second guy is more effective against close to the table counterhitters because his loops are not only more spinny, but are very high arc and also land much deeper (white line). It makes taking the ball off the bounce a very risky and delicate proposition.

I agree on the counter attack part, Boz. But you don't want to block and I saw you don't play close to the table. She has a good block and plays close to the table. So she is at more ease staying in the play. Good well placed block let you stay in the game and increases your chance of counter attacking. But this is only MY opinion.

I have to agree here, especially if added with good placement . another note is that you get caught in her quick at the table game, so mixing it up with power, spin

I asked Seref, the most experienced and probably best player at our club, how to beat her and he also emphasised slow low opening loops and then looping hard and keeping up the pressure.
As for moving back, I just am terrible against players that fast at the table. My reflexes are not as quick as hers, having a few beers before I play doesnt help... lol

it was tenergy 05 in this clip, but last week it was vega pro. Although she is the only person I had more success with the vega pro in the last 30 hours of playing about 20 different people.
I am going to take it off my blade before I enter the door of the club.
