I currently use JOOLA Guo 3C, it is has very fast speed and nice feeling, but is a little heavy (83 grams). I don't know about the Gergely though, I have never used it.

I have the Guo 3C and one of my teammates uses the Gergely so I'm pretty familiar with both of them. They are similarly fast, both very solid feeling blades with little vibration but there are some key differences. The Gergely (regular version, not the 21) has a much bigger head (16.0x15.2 cm) and also has a very blocky handle better for larger hands. It is fairly heavy, around 93 grams, so if you use heavy rubber you may need to reconsider. The Guo 3C that I use is penhold, but the shakehand version supposedly has a shorter head (15.3 x 15.1 cm) than the penhold version (16.4 x 15.0) and both penhold and shakehand versions have a slim handle, better for small hands. My two penhold blades were 80 grams each and the shakehand is listed at 83 grams. Performance seems similar, but the Gergely my teammate has is much less bouncy and lower throw than the KVT blade he tried. So a soft sponge, higher throw rubber like Terminator/Makss/Supersonic works well on it for him. My Guo 3C is one of the hardest and most vibrationless blades I've tried (4 plies of hard ayous and 3 plies of almost invisible carbon) so it is good for my short pips hitting game with softer sponge short pips. Throw angle on Guo 3C seems higher, closer to my Donic Powerspeed and 9 ply carbon blades, noticeably higher than my Yasaka Max Wood, hinoki or balsa core blades. So either will work depending on what weight you want and whether you like a big or small head and a big or small handle. The Gergley-21 has a smaller head and is a little lighter, but I haven't tried the handle on it. The Guo 3C is $30 cheaper than the Gergely, but both are well made blades and very durable. -- Andrew |
