I'm not sure if this has been discussed before but I'm looking to capture some video of matches and points and things, and I was wondering....
What is your favorite camera and to watch table tennis in? |

It all depends on what type of focal length a camera lens has. I dont like seeing shots that show the table looking wider than long. The Korea event just was so bad in this regards. But also, not to high off the table top. And I like to see some full side views to see loop arcs, and they give you a much better idea of the speed of the game this way too. The camera work from the past Olympics was awesome, as they should be for such a venue obviously.

I agree. With just one camera, the best overall angle is from behind and about 20-30 degrees to the forehand side of the closest player. This way his back won't be blocking your view of the ball and his opponent very often. Vertically it should be a little above the table so you can see the table surface clearly and judge how long or short the balls are landing on both sides.

What do you guys think about the ecl angles?
I always got a whole arena free, so I can chose an angle.
Do you better like a low angle: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8mmG8MRjOlI
Or a higher one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fxkckJD2VHg&feature=related

Higher is better, but not from straight behind. More can be seen if you move the camera slightly to the right.
