Some of the Olympic TT matches will be on TV (then no problems). For those TT matches that will not be on TV, is it possible to watch the matches LIVE on a computer?
If so, how to do it? What software is needed to do that?

NBC will stream table tennis throughout the Olympics, both live and on-demand - see nbcolympics.com for details and to download the required Silverlight plug-in.

wow nbc, we'll finally get to see some euro and american matches :D
with english commentary!! i usually watch live table tennis on cctv5, i watch the channel on websites or use the tvants software. the chinese commentary will piss you off sometimes, especially if it's that popular commentator that sounds like a boy, she talks really loud! also cctv= central china tv so expect almost all matches with a chinese player in it |

Since there are some other events that will be ahead of "Table Tennis", I will download & install "silverlight plug-in" and try it out. Hopefully can get it working before TT event starts. I am not very good at computer, so I may not know what I am doing. If someone can get it working for events prior to TT, please post it. There may be a whole bunch of people interested in this.
Thank you very much to "amateur" who provided information on how to do it. Hope, we will all be successful and get it working before TT starts.

Thanks. The streaming has started (the soccer competition is already underway), and it works great for me! Very good quality, try it out. It does seem to be restricted to people in the US though.

Thank you very much, I got it to work by downloading "Silverlight 2 beta 2".
(I googled "silverlight" to find the site to download).
Your post sure has benefited me, as well as many others, I believe.

Many of us have computers that can watch Olympics Table Tennis matches, but lack the hardware and knowledge to record them.
Hope "fixpoint" will upload some important matches for us to download. I, for one, appreciate very much of "fixpoint's" time and effort that benefits a lot of TT lovers.

To get the necessary plug-in installed go to: nbcolympics.com, scroll to the bottom of the screen and click the 'Plug-Ins Needed' link. There you should see the link for the Silverlight plug-in which you can download and install then restart your browser and go to the following link: http://www.nbcolympics.com/video/index.html On that page you will see a listing of the various events that are upcoming and if you click the "See Full Streaming Schedule" link it will take you to a calendar-style listing of all of the different sports by time. If you look in the "Watch Now" banner near the top of the page you can click and see some events that have already occurred. This is probably the best thing to do until we get some actual live events to see (looks like tomorrow night). The player is actually very cool because it will allow you to see four live events at once and then you can go full screen on the one you actually want to watch to see a high definition full digital stereo transmission of that event. I just watched some of the soccer events from the last 12 hours or so and the picture and sound is truly amazing! The sound of a stadium full of fans roaring in pure digital stereo at the different plays going on sounds really excellent. If the system does not get overwhelmed and works well this will be an awesome way to watch any event you want (including our favorite sport!). |

Again, error message about region.
"Unfortuanetly, these contens are not available for your region or the system was not able to recognize the origin of your connection".
Can't get CCTV5 on Soapcost.
