CCTTA.ca In-Club Store
A story of an unsatisfied potential customer: I went in at about 7:30pm with my own blade and needed to get rubber for it. I asked the workers if anyone could help me. The worker I asked didn't know, he then yelled across the club to another worker who just made some gesture as if he couldn't be bothered. After much yelling across the club, the other worker came over and told me to wait for a guy named Alex who will arrive at 8:30pm. Which is fine. But I had to note that it seems that this shop is not open at all times since the previous time I went there was no one operating the store either. So I waited until 8:30pm and surely he came. I told him I was new, that I play an offensive style and that I didn't wanna spend too much and wanted something in the mid price range. He did not spend the time to teach me which rubbers he would recommend and which ones provided what characteristics. So I just chose the 2nd least expensive one. I asked him how long it takes to put the rubber on, he said 10 minutes. I asked him if he was available to do it right away, he said he wasn't sure because he had to play houseleague. Which is fine, so I asked him how long it will take to finish his match. He said half an hour. So I said I would wait. He asked him if I wanted to pay him right away, and I said No and that I'll pay him when he puts on the rubber in 30 minutes. I waited until 10:15 and there was no sign of him. I asked the other workers at the club and even they didn't know where he went. So then I decided to leave. And the worker there had the nerve to ask me "leaving already?" I am a Tennis coach and Tennis Racquet Stringer myself, and I had to say this was very irresponsible and disrespectful. I wanted to play table tennis as a winter sport since I don't play as much tennis throughout the winter. Being a coach I know how easily it is for new members/customer can turn away from a sport if the more experienced members or the store employees aren't helpful. Just wanted to voice my utmost dissatisfaction with this facility. Mainly to this Alex guy who apparently runs the shop, because I guess he probably doesn't care about small-fry like me and I guess he's making enough money from everyone else. But also the other workers there didn't seem to know how to deal with someone who wants to make a purchase either. Thing is, I might be new, but if I get more into the sport I'll probably spend more. Like I said I am a tennis coach, and I have several rackets and a Super-6 Racket Bag with other accessories that amount to $1000 that I carry around with me everytime I get on the court. |

Ryoku,
This is Alex Li, the guy you met last night. Let me explain a little. First of all, your are right, the store is not open all the time in the club. We have a few staffs who are all players in the club. Whenever somebody is playing in the club, they can take care of the customers there when they are free. Or otherwise, our online store is open 24 hours a day on http://mytabletennis.com. You can get suggestions and recommendations on this forum and buy stuff from the online store. In addition, the store is running independently from the club. The CCTTA club worker has no access to MyTableTennis.NET store. And I usually don't do the sales myself unless there is not staff there. Last night there was House League in CCTTA from 7:30 to 10:30. I was late for the House League because I had another business meeting before that. I arrived at the club at 8:30pm when the club worker told me that a customer is waiting. Then I went to talk to you before I checked with the Hourse League. Here is what I can recall what happened: - You told me you play offensively, so I recommended you go with a fast rubber. - You told me you are interested in a cheap rubber and pointing to a DoubeFish rubber, then I recommended you a Butterfly Flextra which is also cheap but better quality and more people use it. - Then you agreed to take the Butterfly Flextra. I asked you whether you need two sheets for two sides, you said yes. - You asked me whether I can glue for you, I said Yes. - You asked me how long it takes and when I can do it for you. I told you it takes 10 minutes, but not sure if I can do it right now, because I haven't checked with the House League, I might have matches to play right away. I asked you whether you want it right now. You said you can wait. - Then I said I will go to the House League first then I will come back later. You ask me how soon I will come back. I told you maybe half hour. I asked whether you want to paid now, you said No. - Then I went to the other hall for the House League. When I got there, my match was right about to start. And they asked me to play three matches in a row, because I was late, I got to play all the matches that I have missed earlier. - After I played all the three matches, I think it was around 9:40, I went back to the store in the other hall but you were not there. There was not many people playing in that hall at that time, but I couldn't find you. I stayed there for a couple of minutes but no sign of you. So I thought you already left. - Then I came back to the hall with the House League, and stayed there watching and chatting with people until 10:15 or so, then I left. Many people can prove I was there until that time. So this is what happened. And I understand your feeling when your experience doesn't meet your expectation. Btw, if you do want to buy from a store that operates all the time, please come to our another store/warehouse at 3555 14th Avenue, Unit 19, markham. We open full time from 10am to 6pm, Monday to Friday. Best regards, Alex |

I was at the same table playing until 10:15pm. And hadn't left.
I have ordered online and checked pick up at store. It told me to go to CCTTA. Advise me where you want me to go to pick up my order. The Club or your Store? Would also like to get a case and balls too. |

That was weird. I went back to the store when I finished matches around 9:40, I didn't see you at the same table. I remember you were playing with a lady, and she wasn't there either. And I stood there in the store for a couple of minutes and no sign of you. Then I left to the other hall.
Anyway, the default pick up location is CCTTA, unless you specify to pick up at the warehouse. The warehouse doesn't open in the evenings and weekends. Please feel free to call customer service 416-800-8569 or email to [email protected] if you have any request. Alex |

I followed up with this incident by ordering online and picking it up in-store.
This time a guy named Danny greeted me and was very friendly and answered all my questions. I had him help me put the rubber on my blade. And he seemed to do a very good job. I will be looking to get another set of rubber for my other blade. Thank you very much. |
