    Posted: 01/13/2009 at 6:39pm
Hello Friends.

I took some videos from the 2008 KS Holiday Open event in Chicago. Find them at http://ttarmory.com/ttvideo

Do not try to stream from there. Just right click and save them to your computer. Videos are 720P, 60fps and should open in QuickTime, though older CPUs might stutter due to the quality.  Some also have success with VLC Player.

Uploaded clips are:
Mark Hazinski, US rating 2570 vs. Zhang Yining, Women's WR 1 (full match)
Chen Weixing vs. Lei Zhenhua, approx WR 50 and Chinese national practice player (one game)
Chen Weixing vs. Samsonov (full match, sorry for the camera angle and commentary)

The first two clips are from a really low camera angle, behind the table to the right side.  I love the perspective from this vantage point!

Enjoy!

Also, FYI ttarmory.com is the official NA distributor for Palio.  my initial stock of Palio goods is on its way on the long boat trek from China.  ttarmory.com will go live when the goods reach me.

Thanks for the videos. Please post the other matches by Zhang Yining too, even if they're not high quality!

Thanks! enjoyed the commentary lol.
Got more Zhang Yining? Looks like she didn't have to work hard to beat hazinski.

too bad i didnt film the soo yeon lee match.  the guys sitting next to me were quite infatuated with her, and the commentary was good :).

i have zhang yining vs. lucjan blaszczyk too, but the quality is bad because i accidentally flipped a setting on the camera.  i will upload it soon, because it is a very exciting match.

Thanks for the videos. They are extremely clear, but, I have a hard time to get them to play. VLC Media Player, Quicktime, Nero all freeze up or play at slow motion. I had to convert the files and burn to dvd, it shrinks the file just a bit but still shows rather clear. Thanks a lot once again.

I can get all but the sam-chen match to play smoothly if I turn off all programs.

i've having a similar problem.

the only way i can get them to work is to play them with quicktime at slow motion.

if i try to play them at regular speed, they get very choppy.

it is most likely a cpu issue.  with anything under 1 GB of ram, things get choppy.  i kind of like the slow-mo better, though!  you can really pick up some details in the players' movements this way.

Nice vids. Thanks for posting.

I'm curious how much nerves played a part in Hazinski's performance. ZY has rock solid defense and is no doubt extremely accurate, but Hazinski was missing some hittable shots. Just saying I'd be nervous if I was playing her that's for sure.

The data rate on those files is about 6,000 kbp/s... That's pretty hefty for most computers to process. If you can afford Quicktime Pro you can compress (export) the movie to a more manageable format. Or there's better software out there for compression such as Telestream's "Episode".

it was slow for me too, then I uninstalled quick time and installed 'quick time alternative' and it worked perfectly.

loopmeister, I do have quicktime pro and tried to compress them, but alas, my cpu is too slow to chug through the compression.  i dont think quicktime is very efficient.  on my cpu, quicktime stutters when i play the videos, but i use a program called arcsoft digital theatre that came with my camera, and it plays smooth.

thanks for the info, konakona!  i will dl that for future video watching :).

ZY is a far better player than Hazinski obviously. Fundamentals, reaction speed, ball placement, etc. But some of that looked like nerves rather than inferior skill. Smile

Also the playing style is much different than what he's probably used to. Given Hazinski's skill level (rating), I guess he would do a little better if he was more accustomed to that Chinese style of fast and accurate counterdriving right off the bounce. There's a Chinese woman shakehander at my club who gives the male 2,000+ loopers a lot of trouble with that style.

I'm a big sports fan, always curious about this kind of stuff.

Mark was definitely nervous in the first game when he had three 3 game points and clearly missed an "easy" backhand winner if such a term exists against Zhang!! LOL
