a few years ago my friend visited China to represent the RAF at TT, against the peoples Army, at the peoples Army TT training centre, and indeed, the top players are all in the Army, I don't think they have a choice.

Maybe its the same case here in Korea. Its compulsory for people in Korea to go and serve in 2 years Military Service, and if all professionals did this for 2 years, we would be lacking in skill. So they have a special Military camp where they Train in their sports and also train in whatever military skills they need

According to this news page (in Chinese)

http://sports.sina.com.cn/o/2010-12-18/00495371320.shtml

The shooting scores are:

Zhang Chao 38 (I'm guess full score is 40)
Ma Long 35
Ma Lin 31
WLQ  30
ZJK  24
Xu Xin  14

Liu Shiwen  8  <-- LOL

First of all, they are getting military-type training /  exercises / workout to prepare them for world tournament and Olympia. They are not joining the army.  OK, some of them are in the army sporting team. However, they are not REALLY into the solider/ army stuff.
