I use audacity, it's not just a conversion tool but a (very good) audio editor though.

/edit: Just noticed that it's not supported in the window$ build.

Audacity is a linux tool and a very good one.

i do recall there is a software program that allows you to convert flac into mp3 for XP,

The problem with converting FLAC to mp3, is you are converting a high quality codec i.e. FLAC, into a poorer quality one i.e. mp3. The files may be smallerr but the quality is also lower too.

If you do convert to MP3, make sure it is no lower than 192mb quality.

Another option and a better one in my opinion is to download the codecs for FLAC and  hear the music files in their original quality.
