In my opinion 75 percent of people on this forum are (usatt rated) 800 level equipment junkies. Crisan is a very good player and i would bet a lot of money he would beat almost everyone on this forum. It is ludicrous to insult someone when they are SOO much better than you. Sorry but I will feel this way until you post a video of your self destroying Crisan or any other world class athelete.

Put your game where your mouth is.

The anger is not directly stated as shutup EJ, but if you put I hate people + the people you are refering to are mostly EJs + you say its ludicrous to  give out opinions all together its comes across as

at least as: all you are is an EJ so you have no right to comment.
Another way to say don't comment in a way from someone expressing what they hate is: shut up

Okay maybe it was out of hand to stereotype members on the forum and i understand why you could get mad at that. But dont you think i should be able to post my opinion that you shouldn't critique the pros to hard?

this has nothing to do with EJism, nothing at all, do you know what EJ is?

no offense taken, I thought you directed your comments at me mostly since I started the direction of noticing what he was doing wrong instead of saying how easily ma kicked his >>>.  Any how lets leave this at what it is, I shouldnt have said anything about you being a moderator or translated what you said as "a shutup", sorry..Embarrassed

It was not directed at you at all. It is okay, i was a little out of hand generalizing everyone in such a blunt statement myself. To end on a hypocritical note, crisan could be a little less conservative and smack the ball back for once. LOL

[/QUOTE]

guys this is something weird I've been thinking about his style, I was really concentrating on his shots which I originally said looked kind of small or compact or controlled.
Now you say this is the waldner era?  Do you really mean that?  Was this the kind of strokes they did?

I say this because the juniors coach at out club said to me that the new direction of table tennis is a more compact stroke,  and thats what I see in the women's (I agree there) but I totally disagree with him for the men.  I believe in this speedglueless era the stroke ought to get bigger... MOre Kreanga, The 2 Ma-s, Liqin, Big arm,...  This the way I swing when the ball falls that way to me.  (when its close to my body I do more compact and often silly Seemiler windshield wiper shots sometimes - due to a lack of footwork mostly & or a good opponent that chases my elbow)

What are your thoughts on this

Ya its a waldneresque type of playing except Waldner was a master at it and Crisan has an odd stance, realy you can play like that its your choice but I personally like to see the nice curves off loops, blocks and punches dont interest me

blocks and punches arent what i try to do, but they are essential to have.
when someone raises the ball a bit higher and you dont have time to get to forehand youve got be able to punch that with all your might.

As for blocking you dont have much other choice when they suddenly attack and you dont know where exactly it will land.  You can try to counter loop everything but realistically expect to air swing more than you contact.

Looping is my bread and butter when I know where the ball will land and what its trajectory is.

well ya, you shoud try to loop when possible and only block or punch when you're in a bad situation, not rely on it.

A better player doesn't have to have more power or spin, but can just intelligently shut you down out of your game.

Although here, I believe ma just ripped him off the table

In addition, most of the bigger shots he went for he missed and probably blew his confidence...

Last night I missed a few successive shots points this way, I usually would then change to a more just get on the table.  But notice that just get on the table usually spells disaster for me too.   So last night I said it doesnt matter you missed just keep trying, the first few a warmer points to get a feel for their spin and speed....

I beat the guy 3:0.  He is much higher ranked than me, I beat him 80% of the time with offensive receive of longish serves, over the table sidspin forehand flicks, and my third ball.

I blocked most of his attacks 3 or 4 in a row which is a first for me...  Bakchand blocking has improved - haleluja

Ma had much much better placement and thought plus he did it lightning fast, why pick just one of the 2

I agree its both, but ma could win without the inteligent placement and just go for random power loop to the left right middle left left and the result would probably be the same.
