I've been trying to find some online shop to buy some fine weave carbon fibre but I'm not having any luck, I didn't expect to find anywhere in Australia but I'm just having no luck in total at the moment :). I can get the large weaves but I think the tighter stuff will be much better for what I have in mind. Does anyone know where to get it?

Thanks for that, So far I can get any kind of Balsa I want in Australia from
balsacentral.com
And the Carbon from the link above (I hope they ship international), now all I need is the top ply, I can get Australian woods so I might try those first :), this should be fun and save money on collecting balsa blades when you can just make 20 different ones :p

Incase anyone is interested, I've ordered the Balsa, a length of 5mm and a length of 8mm I think and also some hard blasa in .8 and almost hard in 1.5mm (so I can try a multi ply balsa with a hard outer layer medium inner layer and the normal soft core (with kevlar or glass fibre outside that)
I also am getting some samples sent from a veneer factory in Tasmania for the outer ply (Australian hardwood). Will be using hide glue and/or some kind of thinned out rubber (silastic sprayed on perhaps) as the bonding material so the plys can flex around each other
So far I've spent about 50 bucks just on Balsa but there is enough there to make about 6 blade at least, I guess the total cost to make each blade will reach $20 easily enough but that will be ok

Have made a few carbon ,balsa, cork bades for my self, being aussie i am also interested in playability of aussie timbers like red cedar, huon pine and others but i'm finding it hard to locate timber venners 6.5 to 9.0 mm thick.Any ideas most welcome.Posting pictures of home made blades could be an interesting topic. My two carbon bats cost me about Aus$8 to make and very playable. I got carbon offcuts from a boat builder who used it in his masts.

I haven't found any veneers that thick yet, only .6mm-1mm kind of stuff. There's a guy in my town that makes custom furniture from exotic woods. I'm going to go and see him soon. I want to make a one ply from Mountain Ash (E regnans) soon for the first easy to find wood for a one ply :). I figure with the sheer amount of native woods in Australia there has to be a couple as good as Hinoki out there somewhere
