When are the equipment bans coming?

I know that they moved up the speed glue ban to 2008. I thought that the frictionless long pips were banned a while ago but I still see people using them.

No, they simply won't be put on the new list when it comes out, also in '08.

Even Glue's that were once on the ITTF approved list, such as Stiga Energy, are no longer approved. I'm sure Cole and many others like myself are no longer ordering any SpeedGlues. But the fact remains thats some players will continue to want and use Speedglue right upto, and after the ban kicks in.

What are we expected to do:
1. Dispose of all the Speedglue currently on our shelves.
2. Refuse to sell the Glue, just because its not approved.

I know myself, I stopped speedgluing about 4 months ago, and can say that my game is now at the same level it was when I was speedgluing, but for a while there I was at a distinct disadvantage.

I only started Speedgluing when I was being wiped of the court by player that did have a distinct advantage whilst using Speedglue, So I joined them.

I have even spoken to dealers that still import Speedglue's becuase the demand is still so High.

Maybe "yourshrink" can give us some answers.

As for the Frictionless Long pips, they are not banned as yet, when the final list is released, they will become illegal as of the 1st August 2008.

I'm still carrying speed glue, although I'm out of single cans for about 10 days. But I'm not doing much booster making anymore. I suspect the ittf may decide they have found a legal stance they are happy with in this "do it if you want but we don't approve" policy. I wouldn't be surprised to see it stick.

I checked iruiru Japanese site. No any speed glue are listed at the site. Only water-based glue is available now.

Well, PaddlePalace still sells regular glue and speed glue which are not VOC-free so you can get it there...

My guess is that Ely is right - they are just covering their ass not to mention that as of now the ban is not even supposed to start until end of 2008... for adults, that is.

I am still a bit put off by all this speed glue/sg-alternatives experience... wouldn't it be nice if they made more "built-in effect" rubbers that you could just put on with regular glue and be done in 5 minutes? ot at the most in an hour or so... and then do nothing for a month?

Can't a guy dream?
