I don't know about the Almana sponge, but if the blade is properly sealed it will NOT get damaged by glue sheets. I can roll or pull my glue sheets off in one shot, wipe off with a little rubbing alcohol, then put a new one on. I mostly use 39 degree rubber/sponge and haven't done any damage. I also use OX rubbers, but they're a different animal. I would consider saving the leftover Almana sponge (after you cut) and experiment. I'd hate to give recommend something that would cost pain, suffering, and loss of $.
