I get very confused when players mention the 999 rubber. It seems to me there are several companies make a sheet they call "999." Can someone clear that up for me.

Will the real 999 please stand up!!!!

I know they list the name of the companies when they advertize, but most of us refer to the rubbers as simply "999". Which one is the BIG ONE . . . the one that comes in 999t . . . the one people claim Ma Lin uses?

the real one and best IMo is the one from Globe, and other companies just copied the name after globe. Kong used Globe too... I believe he was the one who made globe 999 popular...

I thought Globe was the one, but which 999 from Globe? I hear about many different configurations within their line too. 999t? Different color sponges?

as far as I can tell (and Cole can confirm this too) there's no difference between 999 and 999t.
BTW I dont like the 999 or the 999t rubber as it come from factory (except for the topsheet), I do prefer the 999+saviga combo sold by Cole.

I can't tell a difference between t and 999 at all.  Kong used 999, and malin uses t.  Therefore, people typically want one or the other depending on who they emulate.

The three nines version are lower quality.  Poor printing.  Oilslick lookign topsheet.  Very oldschool China.

I guess crack makes one and some other chinese companies too.  Winning makes a 729.  I guess in the end they're just numbers.

Please let me know if I can be of assistance.

now, i think when ppl say 999, they mean globe 999.  there was a period of time when my dad was young, the more popular one was huang jin lu 999 (Golden Path 999 or however it was translated way back then), i don't think it's the Gold Way brand of today though.
