Hello
Would be great if you can write down something to some hinoki woods. If i want to have an offensiv , soft (!), non vibrating hinoki blade , which one is the best ? Speed should be between Off- and Off. Some test reports/comparisons about the Jonyer Hinoki , the Nittaku Septear and the Kiso Hinoki VII would be great Greetings Kevin |

IMO all these blades you wrote are crap when compared to 1-ply hinoki blade. I have a Juic Kiso-Hinoki shake (1-ply) and had a Septear (7-plies) before. It's 2 different worlds, JUIC blade would be AC Milan while Septear could be Udinese. Just to imagine...

Other alternatives for single ply hinoki SH are Darker Tanpan and Darker Speed 90.

But i think that the 1-ply Hinokiblades are too fast, right ?
And are they really "soft" ? It should not be faster than Off- or Off Whats about the Nittaku Septear...some test reports here ? Thanks Greetings Kevin |

If you're gonna get Septear, u might as well get 7p2a or 5p2a from Darker. That's of course unless u have a very little budget.

I've used five-ply hinok blades (including kiso hinoki) and rpbnakata is right, the one-ply blades offer unsurpassed feel for the ball. There are different woods out there to give different feel (some harder and faster and some softer but still powerful). If you want to slow the ball down you can easily accomplish that with a slower rubber (try Butterfly Tackiness-C 1.9 if you need to). Although I've not tried the Juic, Tibhar, or the ones mentioned above, I have used some custom-made 10-mm blades and there is no denying any and all the hype that one-plies receive. I've tried so many different types of blades and I feel like I'm about to "graduate" and step "up" to the one-plies finally. So after you've tried the carbons and the A/C, the kevlar, the zylon, the multi-ply all-woods and exotic woods, and all the high-priced fancy stuff, try a couple different one-ply blades and the difference will put a smile on your face.

Okay, but the problem is that i really don't want a too fast blade , because of control and so on. Than i could better take a thicker sponge and a slower blade (it should be between Off- an Off)
I'm using a JO Silver (max) (FH) an a Sriver FX (2,1) (BH). If its important : I'm playing in germany in the "Bezirksklasse Jungen" which is the second highest league in the tabletennisfederation "TTVN" (Tischtennisverband Niedersachsen) So : Some infos about the Jonyer Hinoki and the Butterfly Kiso Hinoki and the Nittaku Septear would be great. Jonyer Hinoki blade I use has a compact head (FL) very light, rated Off. I like it and I use it as my main blade (FL) Nice natural wood handle which is easy to grip. Good for touch shots and close to table play, does not vibrate but has good feeling... has enough power away from table with the right rubbers. Can play all shots without a problem. Presports sold them for 19 but are out of stock at the moment. I dont know about the others for some more reviews check out

Thanks for your test report Which rubbers do you use ? Can you compare the Jonyer to another blade in speed ? |

I respect those that are happy with their Jonyer-H, but I had a different experience with mine. My Jonyer-H was 70g and I tried it was several different BTY rubbers and just could not find anything I like with it. Perhaps there are some combinations out there, though, that are good, but I just gave up and sold it. To me, I thought that it had too much vibration and it didn't feel solid and stable (like a good one-ply hinoki). It had "feel" for the ball, but IMO it was the wrong kind of feel. I think the Jonyer-H is more suitable for the 38mm ball and not the 40mm ball. If you insist on trying one, though, I'd opt for the heaviest one on the shelf unless you prefer a lot of vibration.

At this point I am happier with a 7 ply all hinoki blade, than with 1 ply. Both are made by "darker".Both blades are very light weight and powerful t ...The 1 ply feels as if it had not been dried well.It does not have that crispy sound that I usually hear when somebody plays wiyh one ply Jpen...I found that "tango" rubber works super on either blade, but sriver fx 2.1 doesn't.I do favour a blade that is light-very important to me.So ,I think the end result depends on the rubber sheet attached .All you r shots wll carry tons of spin.I really don't think it matters too much which company makes a blade-if it all hinoki,so it should play the same.5 ply will probably be just lighter than 7 ply.I have a buddy who attached defensive rubbers on his blade-he seems to be pretty happy with his set up.He uses Jonyer by butterfly.

I couldn't agree more. My new-found preference for the one-ply has more to do with feel than anything else (not speed) and my experience with them is limited, but all I know is that I love what I've just found.

If you don't want a 1 ply hinoki blade that's too fast, I would suggest you get a light 9mm hinoki 1 ply. My Darker Hinoki Shake Speed 90 is 9mm and it has exceptional feel and control, but speed is there too if needed. |

Buying a 1 ply hinoki blade can be tricky. It's performance is dependent on the quality of the hinoki used (ie how it's dried, the grain density, grain patterns and the sound of the wood). Top quality select hinoki is very very expense and becoming more rare. That's why the price range for 1 ply hinoki blades are so great, they're not all equal. |

you are probably right..
i did not much about tt equipment much or the materials used for its making..
just until recently.but yes,i notice that price range on tt equipment can be astronomical...i still think that to make a good blade it probably costs no more than 20$,the rest is just a rip of

I think this is true for most of the mass-produced blades on the market. The hand-made blades may cost no more than $20 in materials, but the person making it for you can hand-select the wood and maybe make the handle to fit your hand better, not to mention his time and talent. Can you imagine spending several hours making one blade and some guy offering you $15 for all that effort! Now if a bunch of robots are mass-producing these blades in some factory in China by the hundreds, it's probably only worth $20 but they have to charge more to pay for the overhead (cost of equipment and some full-time workers).
