. . . and usually the top plies are soft and/or fragile and susceptible to splintering. I wouldn't chance putting a glue sheet on a blade without sealing it. You can get away without sealing, as Hookshot mentioned, in some cases, but not many. Better safe than sorry! And . . . I bet if you ask Hookshot if he would seal or not seal a blade before affixing a glue sheet he will say . . .

SEAL BABY SEAL!

That's why Tommy triple-dips blades in Varathane... as a matter of fact, when he receives a package with TT stuff, he just goes to his garage and plops the entire thing into a huge barrel of Varathane he's got there. Next morning, it's all good and ready.

If you don't believe me - it's all posted on YouTube! By the way, that's exactly what happened to Jimmy Hoffa. Voila - the mystery is finally solved.

Hey, I had nothing to do with Hoffa disappearing.
I answered these questions before damn it!

I only have two blades that are not sealed. Two Willpowers. They have something in the finish, feels like wax, that will not let Poly dry.
The last blade I did not seal was a Stiga. The glue sheet tried to take the whole top layer of wood off.

Don't know, never had one. The things to look for is "how thick is the top layer of wood", "how open is the grain".

Seal it. Better safe than sorry. Otherwise you might be buying a new blade from me sooner than you think!

Elmer's Rubber Cement works just fine.
1. Apply even amount to blade and sponge. Wait 10-mins.
2. Re-apply to blade and sponge. Wait 10-mins.
3. Apply to rubber only. Wait 30-mins.
4. Line up and press on beginning at bottom and carefully rolling toward top of blade.
5. Use a rolling pin to get out air bubbles.
6. Press all over the edge, etc, with fingers.
7. Place in press constructed by THEMANMZ1. Leave in there as long as you can.
8. Trim off excess with a Xacto knife.
9. Ta Da!

Why three layers instead of one? And why wait so long? I used rubber cement and I saw it drying pretty fast. Are you talking about priming, or just attaching a sheet to the blade?
