I can be counted in I think.  After always switching blades or rubbers every few months I got a Violin. I have been using it for over a year now with no desire to change.  It just seems to have a better feel than any other blade and does every shot well.  My EJ desire hasn't even kicked back in at all for a blade since using the Violin.  (Although I have wanted to try new ping pong shoes instead)!

Gweipwu PM me to update his blades...

Everybody who like Violin/Acoustic might try Butterfly ZJK, changing from Violin/Acoustic to ZJK doesn't need a long time of adjustment. Now I really enjoy the power and dwell of ZJK, it has a power of composite, pretty good feel, and has plenty of dwell to lift heavy under spin ball with my BH open loop.
With Roxon 500 2.0 it's very easy to open loop even with very heavy underspin ball.

Peter79:

Thanks!

Have you ever tried H3 Neo? If yes, what is the difference between H3 National 40 Tuned and regular H3 Neo?
My experience on using H3 and Skyline TG3 Neo:

1) I did not see difference between H3 Neo and H3 Non-Neo
2) Nittaku H3 has less power compare to regular Neo or Non-Neo H3, but softer
3) TG3 Neo faster than H3 Neo
4) All the rubber above have to be boosted (using Blue Whale II speed glue) couple of time on first use.

I've tried H3 National with Neo top sheet, H3 Neo National Blue sponge.
My H3 Neo National blue sponge factory tuned only last 1 week, I think it's the same as regular H3 Neo.
So I must tune the H3 Neo again to make it better.
Both on tuned H3 and Tuned H3 Neo will perform the same if tuned...

Answering your questions:
1. It depends, if both are new top sheet with ITTF number, it play the same, but if it's old top sheet, the old top sheet is tackier, more spinny, but not as good as the new top sheet for smashing and blocking.

2. Nittaku H3 Neo is softer, the topsheet is not as tacky as DHS H3 Neo, but it's faster....
3. I've tried TG3 made for Ma Long, it's faster than H3 National white packing, but I still prefer H3, because it's more powerful if playing far away from table.

Probably you would come back if Nittaku release the new string instrument blades, perhaps the more affordable Nittaku Resoud for mass produce? Using Japanese Hinoki instead of Swiss alps Hinoki LOL

Hi guys!
What's the difference between the new and old models of Nittaku Acoustics and Violins?
What are the differences between the logo/emblem of the new and old ones in the bottom of the handle?
(Please add pictures so that I can see the difference)

Thanks in advance!

Reiin,
regarding Violin, the outer plies look the same in both the old and new models. The thickness of layers is also the same in the old and new model. Some say the older Violin has a better feel.

As for Acoustic, the outer plies look the same in both the old and new models. However, in the old Acoustic, the outer layers (1 and 5) were thinner than the intermediate layers (2 and 4). In the new one, layers 1, 2, 4, and 5 all have the same thickness. The core thickness and the total blade thickness is the same in the old and new models.

There's a limited number of an even older Acoustic, also with the black Nittaku Logo:

...and maybe also of Violin, see http://mytabletennis.net/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=46320&PID=576031

Why you choose such a light weight blade? For all wood blade the heavier the better it plays !!!
The heavier means the wood is more dense, gives more solid feel, not feeling soft and mushy...

My Acoustic (Cpen) is older version (black logo). Its outer layers don't seem to be thinner than the intermediate layers. They are about the same thinkness.

This means that either there is more than one generation of older Acoustics, or that there are differences between Cpen and shakehand versions. If I'm not mistaken, Cpen Acoustic was released later than shakehand, so that may be the reason. Any of the "sage" clan members can confirm?

Yes, Acoustic Cpen although it's old logo, but not the same as the older batch one. Acoustic Cpen available about 1 year before changing to gold logo...

I have two ST acoustics with black logo that have thinner top plies, plies 1 & 5 are about 1/3 the thickness of plies 2 &4.
One was bought new in 2006 from Iruiru, second was bought about 3 years ago second hand from a forum member.

I bought another second hand ST acoustic with black logo about 18 months ago and this had outer plies (1 & 5) about 2/3 the thickness of plies 2 & 4.  I have since sold this.

I bought a gold logo Acoustic 1 year ago and plies 1 & 5 were pretty much the same thickness as plies 2 & 4.  This was too stiff for me so have sold it.

Unfortunately I did not take photos for comparison, so i think there are possibly 3 different versions.
