I just got off the phone with a rep from Butterfly and he confirmed that with the new regulations and rules set forth by the ITTF that boosters and tuners will be illegal, and also includes all rubbers with tuned and boosted sponge from the factory. Their line affected will be all High Tune versions. I am not sure what rubber series from other manufactures this will affect but just wanted to pass along some info. May be a repeat of news for some of you, so bare with me if it is.

The only specific versions he stated were the Butterfly High Tune series. I am not sure of any other rubbers other than those. He said "High Tunes and all those are out". Couldn't get more details at that time because I'm at work and had to go. I didn't think much of it at the time because my call was about another topic and this became a side note in the conversation.

am i missing something here?
high tune rubber and tensor rubbers are 2 different things.
of course one can argue that we can high tune a tensor but generally a tensor cannot be tuned or the topsheet -already expanded- will give up and crack.
so high tune = illegal
tensor = not illegal at all
am I right?

There really isn't much to miss....... Butterfly's High Tune series of rubbers are not going to be legal due to the new rules. If someone else knows of other FACTORY tuned rubbers that will be illegal please let us know and add to this post. |

Juic has a whole series of Tuned rubbers, I wonder about those also. Anyone know about these or others? KNOW means for a fact, not just speculation because it has Tuned in the name.

Oh well they suck. I heard they are discussing on the new service rule with the need to stand both feet parallel to the table such that your torso is directly facing your opponent.
Thats totally retarded.

The person with the waist that twists most will have the best serves. I can see it on youtube now, rows of 4 year old kids being twisted as far as they go in a big sports hall somewhere in China to decide which ones are suitable to attend the TT training programme.

Do these "tuned" rubbers contain VOC? Otherwise, why should they be banned? I thought the ban was about VOC and health risk.
Anyway, I think ITTF has turn into a communist state! |

Well I hope Ittf knows what they do, for the moment, we look t be adapting... but if the keep changing rules like that, that's gonna get hard! And plus, as rubbers are getting over-priced( IMHO) like tenergy, where except iruiru, worths 65 bucks, w/o shipping! My wallet is seriously getting hurt!

Do you have to get involved in every thread MOL even when you clearly don't know what you are talking about?

What you said has absolutely nothing to do with this thread [ONCE AGAIN]. Please start your own thread if you feel the need to babble any further. If I could reach you I'd give you a 3 stooges poke right in the eye

I don't think the tuned rubbers were ever that successful anyway... probably because the effects wears off, and people could just as easily use their own tuner to tune just the way they like it...

in that case you'll see a new organization emerging.
the International Pong Association (not to be confused with Indian Pale Ale).
I still support only 1 rule: don't you glue inside (the way you can't smoke inside) and if you reglue, you need to cut your rubbers to the edges AND tape the sides of the blades to limit emanations of VOC.

I think you make a mix between 2 distinct familly of butterfly's rubbers:
- Tenergy use "Spring Sponge" it's a special sponge more reactive like other tensor. - PowerSponge is a sponge wich is boosted by keep it under air pressure (cf. Alubag http://www.butterflyonline.com/technology_ps.asp) This kind of system is forbidden by ITTF |
