Well, try to just roll the ball over first, don't try to loop too hard at first.

It's really nice if we have these players in our club, but I don't know if they want to or not LOL

Who else plays short-pips beside those players?

Dang Ye Seo (South Korea)

Count me in as an all pips player.

I have tried RITC 802, 802-1, 802-40, Clippa, and Spectol.

So far TSP Spectol short pips (back to back on my blade) has worked best (at least for me).

It has an excellent blend of speed and spin while still retaining the ability to produce a knuckle ball effect.

I notice that a lot of pros use Spectol too.

All pips shakehand players are a rarity now.

Take a look at my sig Smile

Effective mind-bending machine. It can loop effectively even mid-distance and can send balls at Mach 3 speed. Most effective style is loop-hit-loop and hit-hit-loop. Just don't go into a routine, keep your opponent's head messed-up. You can throw in a couple of disguised chop-blocks and they would be constantly wondering what went wrong...
Messing opponents with their own spins.

                 I

have been using short pips for about 4 training sessions now, in my backhand....
I used to be a two wing looper, but I don't train a lot (you really need to train to be consistent with bh loop) and I don't tend to move a lot in matches.
Until now the short pips are really cool.
You can be really aggressive, the incoming spin doesn't affect you that much, it's just a lot of fun.
With the inverted rubber I would miss many more balls, and always had to think about whether to hit the ball flat or top spin with my backhand, how to receive serves, how to chop, be aware of the incoming spin, all that.
Now the game has become simpler and more fun, just go back to basic, hit the ball hard and make it land on the other side of the table Tongue.
I think if I was an elite player I would have a disadvantage with the pips, but for my level I think short pips are a plus.
The only problem I saw is that it's not that immediate to change from inverted to short pips....
The strokes are different, the position in the court, so you have to adapt everything.
When changing from inverted to another inverted rubber, it's just a matter of a couple of strokes, then you get used to the new rubber.
I am using
blade -> joola mc1
fh rubber -> haifu whale II
bh rubber -> dhs 651
I think I will stay with this rubber.
It is cheap, fast, not so spiny.
Does ai fukuhara play with inverted in forehand and short pips in backhand?
I want to identify a more or less popular player who plays this setup....

Sign me up too! Smile

I'm using RITC 729 Dr Evil on my backhand :

I use an inverted rubber for my forehand, Tibhar Nimbus VIP :

I love the attacking abilities of this SP rubber! My backhand has been my weak area when I used inverted rubbers, but not much now! I'm able to attack and counter-attack using my backhand. Smile

How do you like Dr. Evil on the backhand?  I have been trying hardbat myself.  I use Butterfly Orthodox.  It's a little bit better than Dr. Evil.  You should try it.

tyranno is relatively faster than 802-40 though i nv use 802 b4.. the sponge is softer. it also depends on wad blade u will paste on.

I have tried several other SP rubbers, i.e. TSP Super Spinpips, RITC 729 Friendship Mystery II 563-1, Kokutaku Tulpe 110, Gambler Peacekeeper....so far, this rubber works best for my game.

Using this rubber, I noticed that my backhand returns are mostly sharp. This prevents my opponent from attacking my returns (so long as I don't make mistakes on my returns!). Most of the time I use my backhand for defence and counter-attack, and sometimes attack too!  As this rubber does not easily affected by the opponent's spin, I would normally place my shots to areas where I would anticipate my opponent to return to my forehand (which is my strength)....and the control is excellent! This rubber makes it easy for me to place shots to areas that I wanted. Smile

Also, this rubber is cheap too! Though price is not a huge factor for me in finding the right equipment, but I do like the fact that it wouldn't cost me much should I need a replacement. Smile

I'm selling a really good short pips package!!
I highly recommend the 802-40/1.8mm on special order 30 sponge. I have a couple like new, but cut for really cheap. Check it out before some undeserving loser on ebay gets them!!
