just a quick question, do you measure your rubber's thickness with the topsheet included or ONLY the rubber section? (the part in between the blade and the top sheet)
thanks! |

I have little experience in this field but I am pretty sure it is measured with the top sheet included unless you are just buying the sponge.

its 4.0mm i think for the topsheet and the sponge of the rubber. Thats why some thinner topsheets will have a max sponge thickness that is higher than others.

Yeah, both topsheet and sponge can be 4mm maximum.
DA, how do you like your Photino? what other blades have you used that you can compare it to? |

I have questions too A side of the blade used for striking the ball shall be covered with either ordinary pimpled rubber, with pimples outwards having a total thickness including adhesive of not more than 2mm, or sandwich rubber, with pimples inwards or outwards, having a total thickness including adhesive of not more than 4mm. 2.4.3.1 Ordinary pimpled rubber is a single layer of non-cellular rubber, natural or synthetic, with pimples evenly distributed over its surface at a density of not less than 10 per sq. cm and not more than 30 per sq. cm. 2.4.3.2 Sandwich rubber is a single layer of cellular (sponge) rubber covered with a single outer layer of ordinary pimpled rubber, the thickness of the pimpled rubber not being more than 2mm. So can you have pips out 2mm thick? One web site says Butterfly DX 103 is the "Thickest OX rubber sheet out there". Are the pips part of the measurement. How does the rule affect the length of long pips? Is the skinny pip part counted? I think that if sandwich rubber can be 4mm then we should be able to have a 4mm SP Thanks. |

Actually, it is the topsheet, sponge, and glue layer thickness combined. As for the question someone asked about pips rubber, it is the total thickness of the rubber, including pips that must be 2mm or less. |

So long as it is within the limit, meets the sponge colour rule and VOC-free, you can use your dishwashing sponge for all they care!

Ive used TBS, Korbel, Acoustic, and stiga OC CR. Ide say the Photino has less dwell time and is harder than both acoustic and korbel, but the photino is faster for sure. Its a little thick. I think ZLF is one of the best new technologies because i like a softer. Korbel and acoustic have more feeling or vibration. Photino is better than Korbel and acoustic and smashing, but its not a smashing blade. Its very good for looping and very consistant blade. Its all around a good blade and so far my favorite because its not as hard as the TBS and has better dwell but not as mushy and woody as all wood blades like korbel. Photino and ZLF technologyso far is the perfect combo for my looping game with speed. |
