Those Neos don't have a blue sponge. That's the only problem with this theory

Yes, the rumors say that Wang Liqin, Ma Lin and Wang Hao were using Neo TG3 on their FH. http://www.sundns.org/discuz/viewthread.php?tid=299124&extra=page%3D1&page=4 The DHS new catalogue says that the Neo sponge is 30% faster and 5% more spinny than their older sponges. |

More than one of the Chinese were using the blue sponge at the Word champs I noticed that in some pictures/videos. I think I saw in the mens doubles they were both using it. I have no idea why they all used it at the Olympics then forgot about it until now? unless now they have a tuned version?

Their rubbers are specially made for them. Their name is on the back of the sponge. Ma long plays with a 2.15mm 42 degree H3 weird.

Totally agree Bee, right now we're making educated guesses based on sponge color and logo shape structure of blurry pics. Until we get an actually closeup picture like we did in the past (I remember someone posted super close up high quality pics), it'll stay that way... educated guesses. I also agree that the rubber won't make you play like them like BBkon said... it takes them years and insane training to get as good as they are. However, it is interesting to see what the new trends are. I mean if the equipment they used was junk and made them lose... I don't believe they would be using it. This is especially important now that glue has been banished to see what direction sponge technology is heading. It's also fun as heck to try .

to be honest, there is no way of knowing what the pros use. They all probably have a custom sponge of some kind that the national quality of stuff doesn't even touch. Like the redshank rumor.. if its true then it had to start from someone seeing WLQ's blade with no rubber on it with a big fat 'redshank' written on it. We dont really know whether its H2, H3, TG3, TG2 without quality closeup photos.. and I have yet to see one quality closeup good enough to read a logo.

lol danhs i agree with you.. but i think thats the magical illusion of online photos.
i guess i stand corrected looking at that blue sponge.. but it makes zero sense. Why on earth is he using the blue sponge. All the glue effect hurricanes are #20.. no reason to have the glue thirsty #21. Unless Wang Hao is self boosting despite the options now available. Who knows anymore. I swear i saw the black sponge in the ma long match for sure though.. I'd like to see where those photos came from exactly.

Am I the only one who thinks that the sponge on ma lin's forehand rubber looks to be about six millimeters thick?!

Wow I stand corrected! Time to ask around to see if thats the NEO sponge! Fix... can you get a good zoom on Ma Lins rubber... the actual symbols. It looked like it was Skyline II FH based on a picture from an article instead of H3.

New Skyline and Hurricanes should be orange #20 sponge. Are you sure that picture is from WTTC 2009 and not some random picture of Wang Hao? Wang Hao did use the Skyline 3 Blue Sponge back in the Olympics but switched to BW2 after the tuned version came out. If you watch videos of WTTC 2009, the sponge is black. |

I'm pretty sure those are the new TUNED skyline and hurricanes. Others are still using BW2.
