    Posted: 12/21/2009 at 2:52pm

Can anyone confirm the handle size difference between the
gold metal plated versus black metal plated Violins ?

It seems that gold-metal plated ones handles are slightly thicker
(even though it doesn't say L-size ?)

tak9.com seems to have both but in limited quantities (based on weight),
paddle-palace had only 1 gold-plated one left at 88gms.

I'd like to get one with black-metal plate (thinner handle),
if I can find one.

thanks!

I don't know (since there's no picture of it), and they can't
seem to tell me either for sure.  All they can confirm is that it
has a gold-plate at the bottom.

tak9.com clearly has two different ones

One says 'thuk' or thick - and in the description says thicker grip/etc.
and this one has gold-emblem.  This one is priced slightly higher.
The other (lower-priced) one doesn't show the handle-bottom, so it's
hard to tell.

I saw the acoustic ST photos in OOAK with gold plated. It's not L-sized but it seems a bit bigger than the old version.

Just spoke with Moon Eui Bae from tak9.com.
He mentioned that most likely all Violins now have gold-emblem at the bottom.  He has both L-size and original (thinner) handle in stock,
but not in the weight I'm looking for, and his price is $50 higher :(
I'm checking with Iruiru to see what they have or can order.

I increased the handle's circumference by adding the soft grip tape.it helps to hold the blade better and makes it very comfortable fit in my hand where there is a neck ..

for now.

I'm not looking for L-sized.  I'd like to get the original/thinner handle
in ~84gms, and tak9.com has it only in 81gms.

If you like a more balanced blade, not head heavy, L-sized is a better option.
I use chinese rubber on FH and 45 gr tensor on BH. It doesn't feel head heavy.
If you use light japanese rubber, than the normal handle is not too head heavy.

I use Refoma (Japanese) - not too light/nor too heavy.
I agree the overall balance is better with L-size, but the smaller
grip fits my palm better.

There's another online store from Japan where you could try:
http://www.tt-japan.net
Also http://www.presports.com has Violin, but only the FL handle.

Yes, I fear this is exactly what may be true for Violins as well Cry

In the post above, peter79 shows that Violin FL "L-size" handle measures
32.5mm x 24mm.     Note, this one clearly says L-size on blade face.

I have a Violin from Iruiru (purchased a few months back) that
does NOT say L-size on blade face, and the handle measurements
are exactly 32.5mm x 24mm.   Just a heads-up!
Note, Iruiru confirmed to me last night they don't carry L-sized Violins,
but you may end up getting one that is Wacko

I checked the measurements on my original Violin (whose handle is now
broken),  and its measurements are 32mm x 22mm.

oh,that is nice to know.but that contradicts that what i was told by the iruiru 's tuff..they said if i wanted an L-sized Violin then it would be a customized blade,so special order, special price..

Yes, they told me as well that all the Violins they have are not L-sized !
But, if I measure the handle of one I purchased from them
several months ago, it matches exactly what peter79 shows in his post,
32.5x24mm.

Btw, holda - if you want one that's L-sized, even though mine doesn't say so
explicitly on the blade face, but the handle stats match exactly
what peter79 shows in his post, please PM me.
Mine has been used exactly twice.

Thanks!
