I have heard T05 is best in black. Any reason for this? Several Pro players use black on FH. I have always liked black on forehand better. Let me know if you think there is a difference and if one is better than the other or is they have slightly different properties. Thanks.

people say black is spinner than red, especially in tacky rubbers, since tenergy is ultra grippy instead of tacky i say it is not as much a spin difference, most people like spinner rubber on FH, probably most people are just used to having black on the FH from the tacky glued rubber days ie H3, i say go black FH

I've used a lot of Tenergy and I've only used 64 in both red and black. There wasn't any real difference. I only use black on the FH as a stylistic thing because black goes with everything.

First of all, apologies from a view of a beginner
Isn't this a mist? do we really have any scientific evidence to prove this theory out? Greeting & bless |

Red goes on the backhand as a warning to my opponent that when I get a shot on that side the point is going to be over.
Not saying if I am going to win or lose the point, but it definitely is going to be over one way or the other :).

I've always used 05 in black, tried it in red last week, and didn't feel any significant difference.

My friend rated about 2250, playing both ternegy 05 both sides. He said the red has less spin, and more speed.

Not a whole lot of difference between the 2 as far as I can see, but I am only just over a week into my own personal Tenergy adventure.

It seems the general explanation is this.... rubber is naturally black, soft and sticky. When you add red colouring to it, it loses its original characteristics, hence less soft (therefore harder and more speed), less sticky (therefore less spinny). So Black is more spinny, less speed. Red is less spinny, more speed. I guess how sensitive is the colour effect depends on the materials and manufacturing process. Apparently the difference is very noticeable in some Chinese rubbers. Most Chinese players use Black rubber in their FH. Zhang YN is the notable exception.
