the doubles is going to be sooooo sad for the other countries.  WLQ paired with Xu Xin and Ma Long paired with Zhang Jike. LOL  absolute faceroll
I thought Ma long - Xu Xin pair is more devestating?

They (Wang Liqin and Xu Xin) have played many times together in doubles and they are very good...

I read that a table fell on his heel. Those flat folding tables have a tendency to tip over from time to time. One of those fell over at my club and came about a cm away from hitting my heel.

But I think you are creating a rumor that he got mad and kicked a table and it fell on his foot! Wink

here's a post i made last month on this very subject.

this is not a rumor--it's fact.  read below:

here's an interview of maze that i found on the tv2sport website:

Maze hber at vre klar fredag

and here's a rough (but good enough to understand) translation via GOOGLE TRANSLATE:

Maze hopes to be ready by Friday

Michael Maze is beginning to believe that he may be ready for Champions League showdown on Friday for Roskilde BTK 61 on TV 2 Sport.

- I still can not play, but for the first time in a long time I could today go plain and come through on foot, without it was too painful, "says Michael Maze.

Maze got a table down on the foot after an outbreak of rage during training earlier this month, but it has not just removed his desire to play - quite the contrary.

- I have a lot of energy, I need to burn off, so it's great to get going again and be able to sweat through. I look like a little child to get the bat in his hand and play again, "says Maze continues:

- On Friday we play one of the most important matches in the Champions League quarterfinal against my old club - Borussia Dsseldorf. I very much hope to be ready. These are the games you look very forward to and I have trained up to peak for this fight and the big tournaments in February. I would not climb things - I'll have to take everything one day at a time.

i read that, too.

that account does not necessarily contradict the TV2 account--it just says that the table fell on his foot--it doesn't say why or how.

anyhow, how could the TV2 reporter who wrote the story have known that the table fell due to an angry outburst from maze (he probably hit or kicked the table) without maze himself telling him so??

OOOO I hope Lee Jung Woo and Mizutani Jun also make it past the first round. I would love to see those two play against each other again. Plus we haven't seen Lee Jung Woo for a while, since the china open I believe?

I know, they actually care about this tournament, sending full forces. Ma Long, Zhang Jike, Wang Hao, Ma Lin, Wang Liqin, and Xu Xin. No B team here, just the all stars.

Should be a lot of epic high level China pwnage. They all look pretty spread out too. Looks stacked for an all Chinese semi-final again.

Also Koreans are in full force too, sent 6 top playes that are seeded including Joo, Oh, and Ryu. But 12 players total...woow.

20 of the 32 players seeded are from China, Korea, Japan, Hong kong, Taipei. So many top Euro players dropped out...Boll, Maze, Kreanga, Persson, Legout, etc.

OOOOMG, Ryu verses Xu Xin would be an epic matchup if it falls to that in a couple rounds.

The Chinese are going to be extremely serious there because the winner gets the place on the national  team at WTTC 2010 - this is not just a regular ProTour event, they will do their best to destroy whoever gets in their path.

The interesting question is why Xu Xin is here despite winning the Team Trials. For fun?

Kuwait Open is going to be the same, by the way...

Too bad Ko Lai Chak isn't playing.  He's awesome to watch.

Xu Xin will take Ryu 3-0.

Huh, cool. Paul Drinkhall beat Kim Min Seok. Kim just beat Crisan, Gionis, Korbel, RSM, and Dima recently, but loses in qualification round to Drinkhall. Impressive for the English.

Also, remember that there are 5 spots on the team.

Yes, I think it was posted somewhere that after these two ProTours coaching council will decide on 1-2 team members based on the results and then they will hold some yet unknown trial again.

You are right that they didn't make it super-official with men - with women they officially declared that that is how it is going to be.

Huh, Kamal vs Weixing again. This will be the 5th time they have faced each other, they also played in the olympics, a pro tour event, the champions league and the killerspin open...

Looks prime for a few upsets of the seeded first round.
