    Posted: 03/13/2010 at 4:04pm
there are many topics discussing what the popular chinese pros are using at the time of every tournament, so why not consolidate them? there have been threads discussing this in the past but they are many pages long and have a lot of out of date information, so i think its time for a new one.

whats recorded here is simply observations noted from the most current pictures and the many, many threads discussing this topic. pros change equipment just as everyone else and theres no way to know exactly what everyone is using at all times; and whose to say that the pros dont have 100% custom equipment with all the stamps and logos of the production models? therefore, any of this information could be false or outdated. also, please prove to me that any of this information is wrong and ill gladly update it, im just as interested as everybody else.

Good thread Walley. Having multiple threads asking the same question gets quite boring.

BTW - I think I saw a picture of Xu Xin and he had Tenergy 64 on his BH (please don't quote me on this).

i do believe i see dark outer plies...or im just seeing things.

name the blades whatever you want, but all the blades the pro have are slightly different from what is commercially available.  theres going to some change in weight, ply thickness, stiffness, hardness, etc...  all customized to their preference.

ok so then there's no point in saying ma long uses a tbs, or zhang jike uses a viscaria...
makes no sense what you are saying.

The picture seems to show that Zhang Jike is playing with Huricane II NEO blue sponge.    The aspect ratio of the II symbol appears to only have two lines and it is narrower than it is tall.

A III symbol for H3 NEO however has an aspect ratio that is more square.

Zhang Jike is playing H2 NEO Blue Sponge.

jrs - when you pointed this out and i examined the pic closely i came to the same conclusion, but upon looking closely at my own h3 i found that the numerals are extremely close together and all together they are at least twice as tall as they are wide. ive never owned h2, but from this pic i can not tell one way or the other.

I just love these threads, '' what are the top Chinese players using''

As if any of us are gonna get there, there are not too many ''what are the top European players using'' threads, yet it makes no difference, these players are so far above what in standard is possible by virtually all of us, why would it be a benefit choosing what Ma Lin uses over Samsonov, Actually for most, playing with what Samsonov uses would be far more beneficial to their game, but because Chinese players have the edge at the moment, obviously that is the way forward to get from US rated 1300 to 1600. Rubbish.

are you gonna look for that kind of rubber and pay 90$ for a sheet and then you will sing when you train in your local club?

i dont know why some members need a proof about what they use, that should not be so important

Damnitkwr is right.  I just noticed the number and looked at my H2 NEO and then found his post.  The H3 NEO must put the III closer together than does the old H3.

i did some more research and found out some stuff about hao shuai's equipment

he used an avalox p700 with h3 and sriver fx a long time ago

in 08 he used a persson power carbon senso v1 with h3 and bryce speed

in late 09 he used a viscaria light with h3, no info on backhand, not even a glimpse at sponge color

gnome, i scoured the chinese trials 2010 looking for a shot of shuai's equipment but was unable to find a single good frame. if you can find a pic of him using a tbs then post it here

some patterns...
-new generation (ma long, hao shuai, chen qi, zhang jike, li ping)
blades = tbs/viscaria/mm, wosik carbon (fast 7 ply carbon)
rubbers = forehand xxx neo, backhand euro rubbers (bryce speed, tenergy...)
-old generation (ma lin, wang hao, wang liqin)
blades = hurricane hao, hurricane king (5 or 7 plies with much control and not all that speed)
rubbers = forehand xxx neo, backhand euro rubbers (bryce speed, tenergy...)
-next generation (me, ...)
blades = tbs
rubbers = forehand haifu bwII, backhand andro hexer

xu xin and qiu yike??????????

HK coaches told me that the h3 neo bue sponge (the verisn that ZJk is using) does not cost as much as 90usd..they said one thing if you get them at that pricet, you are being ripped off, also they said that version is very very limited and will not have a large quantity that available for the market. If someone said that have like 5-10 sheet above.. be aware..Smile

At the moment HK is putting a request in to get that version for their team and only currently being considered.. not approve so if someone said they have many to sell then be cautious..Smile

That sounds pretty logical. One thing that i would like to add here, a bit off topic though, that ALL the CHINESE Men's team player seem to be boosting their Hurricanes'. I really don't think that there is any reason to believe that those blue sponge versions or national versions will play close to what it is playing like for the pros. They are definitely boosting them, either themselves, or perhaps DHS is doing it for them.
I have gone through a lot of pics of chinese men's equipments and almost everywhere i can see that the chinese rubbers (Hurricane 2 or 3) are almost dying to detach themselves from the blade near the edges, close to the handle.
Heavy tuning effect i would say!
Huge testing in progress...
