My friend says straight handle Timo boll spirit will be really bat with chinese rubbers because you can not grip it properly. Thoughts?

The grip that you use, is a preference. It all depends on what you like in your hand, I prefer flared because I change the grip from FH to BH and the flare helps with consistency and it just feels right. There is no best answer.

From my survey results, it is just a matter of preference except in the case of combination players. If you use one side spinny and one side anti (pips etc) then you may want to use straight to facilitate "twiddling" or flipping the racket mid point.
