Weight is an individual preference. You obviously prefer heavy-class (near 90g and +) blades, but that does not mean everyone will. Ma Lin himself is a good illustration of that point.

Among all-wood blades, the heavier ones are more powerful. The wood is denser and feels better. The really light samples feel hollow and too soft. The lighter samples of YEO actually have a very soft feel, while the heavier ones feel hard.

As a very general rule, of course heavier blades are more powerful, if one assumes the same force applied. But it's also the case that things are sacrificed as the weight is increased (touch, flicks, recovery, etc). You may not need more power - that is simply one element among many. As for feel, you evidently prefer blades with a solid, hard feel. That's fine, but it's also fine for someone not to.
