Just got two sheets of Acuda from Tibi here in the For Sale forum (great price btw). S3 for my backhand, which I really like, and a black S2 max for my forehand which, coming from Nimbus Soft, I find much harder sponged than I expected. My question: has anyone here boosted/softened S2 with paraffin oil? What were the results? Cheers

I have used the Dandoy Bio booster. It feels better but when we tested it back to back against an untuned sheet the was less performance period. Boosting seems to reduce the rubbers abilities by 1/2 a grade. A tuned S2 performs somewhere in the middle between a S2 and S3. If you boost it enough it is very hard to pick a S2 from a S3. Best just to use them as they are S3 for least speed then continue up the scale to S2, S1t and finally S1 for serious speed. Note that S1 has a different and less spiny topsheet as compared to the other three.

S1 Turbo is definitely faster than regular S1. It is also Turbo with the different top sheet from the other three.

Actually S1 is the odd one out S3, 2, and 1t all have the same topsheet. S1 has a harder topsheet. If you have them back to back on the same blade you can clearly feel this. We also had the S1t sponge checked out (the local tt center has a tool for measuring hardness) and the sponge is softer than S1. There is a product description on the donic website about S1t and it corobarates this.
That said all four are great rubbers. |

thanks for the tip, Golden. i used them again yesterday and found that both are great in their own way. the s2 is great if you rip into the ball and in the short, control game. it'll just take some adjustment on my part. i'll leave off the tuning so and give them another week. cheers
